Does anyone know how to learn how to do accounts really really quickly?

Or like a really easy HOWTO guide or something?

I mean I'm looking at this Sage software and it's just a bewildering series of things and names and numbers...and even the help pages are baffling...

With most things, I would say "read the manual" but do NOT attempt to read the Sage manual. It is 7 books long and explains nothing. Ask someone in your accounts department how it works. ;-)

Ha ha you're right about the manual what a f-ing nightmare.
Sadly I AM the accounts dept...I think this may be where I went wrong in life...(sobs and smacks head on desk).

You didn't get a job by pretending to be a chartered accountant, did you? oh dear.

Oh. Oh dear. I'm so sorry. There's got to be a Sage for Dummies or something?

I've used it, but I'm f*cked if I know how it works. There's a reason that accountants study for however many years they do. Where's Pink? She does this kind of thing.

There doesn't seem to be "for Dummies" type book. All I do is help the treasurer (of a small-medium sized charity) do the day-to-day stuff - writing cheques, keeping a (very) basic account of what we spend, any income we get, etc. and usually at this time of the year we hand my files of paper to an accountant and they do an audit BUT this year the accountants have changed their working rules and so can't audit their own work (which makes sense really) so I'm trying to do it.
