to DVD+ or DVD- ?

I *stoopidly* bought a DVD+ burner for my PC whilst also buying a DVD- recorder for my living room.
They're just not gonna get on, are they???
However, i want to burn some TV programmes from my PC to DVD and watch them on my telly, not squinting at my PC screen.
Am I to have any luck? For some reason I've noticed that *some* DVD+ discs will play on my player, but it takes great pleasure in spitting out the other ones. I mean, how rude...
Ideas?

Bite the bullet and buy a burner which does both (I.E. 99% of them) is the best advice I can give

However, I have heard about 'bitsetting' which alters code on the disc to fool players into thinking a + is a -, or vice-versa. Your burner may or may not support this feature

Have a look here:

Actually your dvd+r burner will PLAY both formats, it's just that it will only record on +R blanks. +R blanks are slightly less compatible with standalone dvd players.
