I change this. Not a film I watch often but one that, whenever I do, I'm utterly enthralled by. Brought it home over Xmas and my mom, bless her, proclaimed it the most fascinating film she'd ever seen, or something close to that effect. Killer soundtrack, but of course, and I loves me some Dominique Pinon.

dominique pinon is awesome. i love this film, and it's really impressive that ron perlman didn't speak french and took on the part. i need to watch it again soon.

Yeah, Ron frickin' rules. I like how they implied the character has French as a second language but I think never actually state it.

Such a flat out gorgeous film as well -- not just the design, though of course Caro nails it, but the colors, the lighting and cinematography. A feast of a movie.

I've cautiously discussed with friends of mine (who luckily all agreed with me) about how i think that the little girl who plays Miette is one of the most beautiful girls i've ever seen. We comforted one another by agreeing that what we really mean is that she'll grow up to be "a real heart-breaker" to ward off any claims that that might sound a little too creepy. But i still think she's strikingly gorgeous for a girl of such a young age.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I tried to find out more info about the actress once via a Google search and a look at some of the domain names was enough to know that I didn't want to look any further.

she is totally gorgeous. i remember looking her up on imdb after watching the movie.

one can only wonder if a french equivalent of "Mr Skin" is sitting somewhere patiently waiting with olson twins-esque anticipation.

i like this movie a lot. seems likely to be the best thing jeunet and/or caro will ever do.

Is there a director's cut of this? I have an old VHS, and while it looks great, it seems a bit incoherent in a way that suggests there may be chunks missing. Or else the English dubbing is at fault.

Delicatessen! Even crazier and better opening sequence!

An actor in this film stayed at my house when I was about 16 for an exchange type thing. His was one of that group of kids in it. His name's Br1ac B4rthelemy and he was a little shithead. he kept hitting on a friend of mine. And he continually reminded me that he just had to have ze sex with an Australian girl. I'm pretty sure he never did.

I think that's him on the very left. Little fucker.
