Now I don't think I can recall "What Cheeses Me Off" from Hey Hey It's Saturday in the same light ever again...

oh man. i was thinking about 'hey hey its saturday' the other night. i was never a fan. especially of daryl sommers need to explain every joke after it happened like we were all dumbasses. but what i was thinking about was how id hear it from another room (my moms boyfriend used to watch it religiously) and it always made me feel kind of safe. like no matter what happened in real life 'hey hey its saturday' would always come on at the same time each week with the same lame jokes. fully explained, of course. i dont know. my heads coming up with some weird shit as i shed the australian life.

Eat at Outback Steakhouse: they are the bonafide experts on Australian slang. The Walkabout Soup o' the Day! The Chocolate Thunder From Down Under! The little girl cocktail named Wallaby Darn! The menu that explains that "cutlery" is Aussie slang for a knife and a fork! Tip a dooley, Steakback Outhousers!

what the hell does 'wallaby darn' mean? i used to like outback until they took burgers off the menu. theres nothing to eat now.

I have no idea what it means. It's like a peach Icee with some small amount of schnapps. What the hell is darn?

I would love to learn the etymology of "shout" as in "I'll shout you a beer." That confused the shit out of me the first time I heard it.

adamj, Tuesday, 25 August 2009 05:56 (sixteen years ago)

have always assumed it's taken from the act of shouting "the drinks are on me!!" or similar while at a bar.
