Acccording to this, TV Licensing now have the right to bust people without telly licences who watch programmes on computers - or even their phones - instead.

How on Earth will this hold up?

You need a license to watch television? WTF?! Do you need to take classes and pass a test as well?

They have to pay for the BBC.

empty, pointless threat seeing as they will be unable to detect computer owners (as opposed to TV owners) and unable to search computer contents without reasonable suspicion.

See, that's what I thought.

But on the other hand I wondered if the fuckers were going to start an attempt to license computers based on people watching telly on them.

TV detector vans did not actuall have TV detecting equipment in them, appart from big lists of people with TV licences and a window to see if there was an ariel on the roof.

Reasonable suspicion = what goes down your broadpipe?

However, he declined to comment on what criteria the licensing body used to define "as live", saying only that even delayed broadcasts such as the "plus one hour" services run by some digital channels would still count.

So just BitTorrent everything off UKNova; problem solved!
