Women live longer after all....
Sure, you see some women with sticks, but they seem to be more a man thing. I don't know why, do you?

Old ladies use those groovy walking frames, not walking sticks.

There was this old russian (I guess?) man who used to hobble around my hometown's city centre. Dunno if he was homeless, but he always carried a cane covered in a plastic chain linked with plastic daisies, and um, babies dummies (pacifiers). He wore a big fluffy russian hat and coat all the time.

He'd been a fixture in town my whole childhood/teen life, then one day he just wasn't there anymore :(

I started reading that as a limerick and got annoyed when it didn't rhyme :-/

There was this old Russian, I guess
Don't know if he was home-less
He carried a cane
covered with a chain
His big fluffy hat was a mess

In Ormskirk there is an elderly man who gets everywhere by roller-blading. This is in no way a joke, seriously, crowds gather whenever he passes, he's a local celebrity.

We have to make our own fun, here.

is this claim even true?

traditionally, there maybe something to it, vis-a-vis War Veterans etc., but I doubt there's any significant difference in cane-men vs cane-women anymore.
