Well I...huh? Fave bit:

In the post-9/11 era, even suburban counties have homeland security departments. Montgomery County will not specify how many officers are in the department's security division, citing security reasons.

Well, yes.

Why am I picturing both of these dudes with very "unfortunate" moustaches?

Paunchy Stratego (kenan), Friday, 17 February 2006 15:28 (nineteen years ago)

haha I did the same thing.

senseiDancer (sexyDancer), Friday, 17 February 2006 15:29 (nineteen years ago)

Haha I was more disturbed by the END of the article which implies library wanking is commonplace and librarians merely provide people with privacy screens! That's...something else.

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Friday, 17 February 2006 15:42 (nineteen years ago)

At most public libraries in the Washington area, an adult can view pornography on a library computer more or less unfettered. Montgomery asks customers to be considerate of others when viewing Web sites. If others are put off, librarians will provide the viewer of the offending material with a "privacy screen."

And hand lotion? xpost

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 17 February 2006 15:42 (nineteen years ago)

Then the wow-chickee-wow-wow music starts and the librarian lets down her hair and becomes very naughty indeed...oh yeah...etc.

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Friday, 17 February 2006 15:43 (nineteen years ago)

library wanking is commonplace

Oh, where to begin. (Then there's the attempted arson and the bomb threats and the...)

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Friday, 17 February 2006 15:49 (nineteen years ago)

A file named "FreakRidingAClown.jpg" could only disappoint.

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 17 February 2006 15:50 (nineteen years ago)

True, true. I blame FEMA

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Friday, 17 February 2006 15:51 (nineteen years ago)

Ha. Porn aside, it's not totally surprising that Montgomery County has a homeland security department -- it borders DC and probably is home to a significant number of high-level government officials.

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Friday, 17 February 2006 16:00 (nineteen years ago)

...

So anyway, Ned do you offer people privacy screens?

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Friday, 17 February 2006 16:02 (nineteen years ago)

Holy fuck, Sterling's right.

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 17 February 2006 16:04 (nineteen years ago)

This was on Metafilter yesterday... seems like DHS is getting a little, um, out of control.

Hatch

Hatch (Hatch), Friday, 17 February 2006 16:05 (nineteen years ago)

x-post to Ally -- Tempting, but we don't offer such a service. Alas, installing trap doors to drop people into moats filled with alligators was too expensive.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 17 February 2006 16:05 (nineteen years ago)

more money for my employer, who manufactures these privacy screens.

too bad those standing directly behind porn viewers still get a clear version of cooch.

AaronK (AaronK), Friday, 17 February 2006 16:10 (nineteen years ago)

or cock, didn't mean to be homophobic.

AaronK (AaronK), Friday, 17 February 2006 16:10 (nineteen years ago)

That Boise story is insane.

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Friday, 17 February 2006 16:12 (nineteen years ago)

No kidding. They were harrassing him. That cop had an unfortunate moustache, too, I'd wager.

Paunchy Stratego (kenan), Friday, 17 February 2006 16:17 (nineteen years ago)

Scary stuff.

Mitya (mitya), Friday, 17 February 2006 17:32 (nineteen years ago)

If so, call me Osama.
