I say: Momus be interesting bla bla bla, but MORE WRONG THAN RIGHT

G. Samsa, Thursday, 23 February 2006 15:41 (twenty years ago)

who?

sunny successor (katharine), Thursday, 23 February 2006 15:43 (twenty years ago)

I am in favour of women restricting themselves to traditional female roles, therefore I say MORE RIGHT THAN WRONG

in the land of the blind..., Thursday, 23 February 2006 15:46 (twenty years ago)

I like orientals. Their women are delicate and tasteful and subservient. Therefore MORE RIGHT THAN WRONG

Jimmy Mod: The Prettiest Flower In The Pond (The Famous Jimmy Mod), Thursday, 23 February 2006 15:49 (twenty years ago)

You really hafta be as clueless as blount to think that's what he was sayin...

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 23 February 2006 15:56 (twenty years ago)

99.5 percent RIGHT

richardk (Richard K), Thursday, 23 February 2006 16:09 (twenty years ago)

I am a rootless jetsetting job-free bohemian, but I think collectivism is good for everyone else. Therefore I say MOMUS MORE RIGHT THAN WRONG

Knut Hamsun, Thursday, 23 February 2006 16:14 (twenty years ago)

Is Momus' music more BAD than BORING or more BORING than BAD?

xngnznevqnznplbetbarnpphzhyngbe (ex machina), Thursday, 23 February 2006 16:22 (twenty years ago)

And there's all different ways of parsing my last post!

xngnznevqnznplbetbarnpphzhyngbe (ex machina), Thursday, 23 February 2006 16:22 (twenty years ago)

I scarcely agree with Momus, but I'm very glad he's around.

Under the paving stones, Paul Scholes (nordicskilla), Thursday, 23 February 2006 16:23 (twenty years ago)

You have to work awfully hard for 15 years at one art form only before you get the kind of international offers that cause such resentment with more static internet users.

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 23 February 2006 16:36 (twenty years ago)

But I thought this thread was about Momus, not me.

oh YAY.
A thread about Momus.

clodia pulchra (emo by proxy), Thursday, 23 February 2006 16:47 (twenty years ago)

I thought it must have been you that started it!

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Thursday, 23 February 2006 16:48 (twenty years ago)

MOMUS: BETTER THAN GWYN3TH PALTR0W, CLAIMS INTERNET USER

mookieproof (mookieproof), Thursday, 23 February 2006 16:48 (twenty years ago)

I planned on starting an entire campaign around the idea. Online fan club members (MomuScenesters) would spread the Momussage to various message boards, earning MomusPoints(tm) that can be cashed in for Momus fold-out posters, eye patches, or free iTunes music downloads - the new, hip, Momus approved, legal method for song downloading. If only you told me earlier.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Thursday, 23 February 2006 16:51 (twenty years ago)

Momus is the Michel Houellebecq of ILX.

Knut Hamsun, Thursday, 23 February 2006 16:52 (twenty years ago)

Ned, what is your art form? And can you prove you really worked that hard?

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 23 February 2006 18:09 (twenty years ago)

But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for
Turn out the light
Don't try to save me
You may be wrong for all I know
But you may be right

My Psychic Friends Are Strangely Silent (Ex Leon), Thursday, 23 February 2006 18:21 (twenty years ago)

My art form lies in performing various retching noises when in the presence of Billy Joel lyrics. The proof is in the pudding.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 23 February 2006 18:23 (twenty years ago)

I am sorry to have questioned the validity of your claims.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 23 February 2006 18:23 (twenty years ago)

Joel makes the world go round.

My Psychic Friends Are Strangely Silent (Ex Leon), Thursday, 23 February 2006 18:25 (twenty years ago)

the important point here isn't whether he is more wrong than right, or more right than wrong. but in a way of reduction, surely the important question is whether momus is less right than wrong, or less wrong than right?

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 23 February 2006 18:26 (twenty years ago)

Joel makes the world go round

i like this...let's make a tie-in with Nick and Billy....best of luck

also what suzy said..preach

Vacillating temp (Vacillating temp), Thursday, 23 February 2006 18:28 (twenty years ago)

Damn you and your logic, Ken C.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 23 February 2006 18:28 (twenty years ago)

just because you're not wrong, doesn't mean that you're right.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 23 February 2006 18:29 (twenty years ago)

see when one arrives at a cross road, and the correct way is left, would momus be more wrong than right, or less wrong than left. this is the question

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 23 February 2006 18:30 (twenty years ago)

What do I have to say to get a thread made about me? I want to be famous or maybe even infamous; what steps must I take?

Do I have to wear an eyepatch? Because, I will if I have to.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Thursday, 23 February 2006 18:30 (twenty years ago)

you have your own frigging ringtone!

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 23 February 2006 18:31 (twenty years ago)

nice

Vacillating temp (Vacillating temp), Thursday, 23 February 2006 18:32 (twenty years ago)

I think that wooden legs are the way forward in 2006.

My Psychic Friends Are Strangely Silent (Ex Leon), Thursday, 23 February 2006 18:32 (twenty years ago)

wooden legs are so arpil 26th 2004, actually

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 23 February 2006 18:33 (twenty years ago)

i dont really understand the ILX fascination with momus. i dont think its the eyepatch, but i could be wrong.

AaronK (AaronK), Thursday, 23 February 2006 18:36 (twenty years ago)

you have your own frigging ringtone!

And yet, total anonymity. So obviously new technologies are not the answer.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Thursday, 23 February 2006 19:05 (twenty years ago)

he's more wrought than wrung

Michael Wempie, Thursday, 23 February 2006 19:11 (twenty years ago)

such resentment

you believe that?

gabbneb (gabbneb), Thursday, 23 February 2006 19:12 (twenty years ago)

also more hung than wrung...could'nt resist

Vacillating temp (Vacillating temp), Thursday, 23 February 2006 19:26 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, gabbneb, but only because of the no-real-job sneering, nothing else. He has got a job.

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 23 February 2006 20:36 (twenty years ago)

why is everyone here obsessed with Momus?

killy (baby lenin pin), Thursday, 23 February 2006 20:48 (twenty years ago)

because we want to know if several of him would be momuses or momi

mookieproof (mookieproof), Thursday, 23 February 2006 20:52 (twenty years ago)

Wrong is the new right.

Momus (Momus), Thursday, 23 February 2006 22:59 (twenty years ago)

Is ILX more repetetive than redundant, or more redundant than repetetive?

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 23 February 2006 23:09 (twenty years ago)

i can buy another computer now, and then buy another one, that would be repetitive, but the computers will not be redundant, so the real question is maybe measuring repetitiveness is redundant, and redundancy is not repetitive.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 23 February 2006 23:39 (twenty years ago)

I was going to suggest that I'm the Fonz of ILX, but... nah. If anyone should have died in a motorcycle fireball-crash, it's the Fonz. At least I've kept my figure.

Momus (Momus), Thursday, 23 February 2006 23:52 (twenty years ago)

Oh lay off the Fonz, Momus. He seems like a perfectly sweet man.

Mr Jones (Mr Jones), Friday, 24 February 2006 10:05 (twenty years ago)

If you are Fonzie, have you jumped the shark yet?

tokyo nursery school: afternoon session (rosemary), Friday, 24 February 2006 13:52 (twenty years ago)

Wikipedia on "jumping the shark":

scenes that finally convince viewers that the show has fundamentally and permanently strayed from its original premise

Hmm, doesn't this cast typecasting as a virtue? Doesn't this typecast typecasting?

the departure or replacement of a main cast member or character

I'm still here!

or a significant change in setting

Folktronic recorded New York, Oskar Tennis Champion recorded Tokyo, Otto Spooky recorded Berlin, Ocky Milk recorded Berlin-Osaka... looking pretty post-shark there.

They are generally viewed as a desperate and futile attempt to keep a series fresh in the face of a decline in ratings.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaay?!

Wikipedia: 637,498 days of being generally off base about everything.

Is Wikipedia more wrong than right, or more right than wrong?

James Ward (jamesmichaelward), Friday, 24 February 2006 17:06 (twenty years ago)

sometimes i think henry winkler's the fonz might be one of the great performances of the 20th century. he convinced an entire nation that he was the coolest guy on earth, when, in fact, he was a complete nebbish in real life. i mean, he is way closer to woody allen then he is to brando. and he's 4 feet tall! amazing. simply amazing.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 24 February 2006 17:22 (twenty years ago)
