Chef kills himself with an alarm clock...

I can't decide whether this is a pretty clever way to go out (if you were so inclined) or terribly risky?

Chef kills himself with alarm clock

Either way - terrible for the widow/mother.

Ned T.Rifle (nedtrifle), Friday, 24 February 2006 12:27 (twenty years ago)

I'm getting really depressed - what with this and the poor mother yesterday who throw herself under a train where her daughter had thrown herself under a train before and then there's Iraq and the roof collapse in Russia and the mudslide...is it just me or is this turning into a more horrible winter than usual?

Ned T.Rifle (nedtrifle), Friday, 24 February 2006 12:31 (twenty years ago)

yes, iraq -- and now this!

The Man Without Shadow (Enrique), Friday, 24 February 2006 12:31 (twenty years ago)

Yes what's all this with roofs collapsing all over the place - don't people know how to make roofs anymore?

Rotatey Diskers With Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 24 February 2006 12:33 (twenty years ago)

it's as if they were all connected.

The Man Without Shadow (Enrique), Friday, 24 February 2006 12:33 (twenty years ago)

And another thing, why are so many female newsreaders pregnant? Somewhat of a tangent, I'll give you that

Rotatey Diskers With Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 24 February 2006 12:34 (twenty years ago)

'Terribly risky'? Eh? I should say.

Anyhow, that's awful.

NickB (NickB), Friday, 24 February 2006 12:35 (twenty years ago)

to cap it all, a forthcoming football match won't be played in a new stadium. whatever next!

The Man Without Shadow (Enrique), Friday, 24 February 2006 12:36 (twenty years ago)

"it's as if they were all connected"

Actually they may well be. The same guy designed the roof that collapsed in Moscow yesterday and another one that collapsed a year or so back.

Hello Sunshine (Hello Sunshine), Friday, 24 February 2006 12:37 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, obviously, "terribly risky" in that there's a chance you could kill yourself. What I really meant to say was, risky that you would 'just' injure yourself horribly.

And I know, all these things are not really connected and bad news is all around us always but it's just getting to me OK! I need a happy story "Fireman saves kitten" something like that. Is that too much to ask for?

Ned T.Rifle (nedtrifle), Friday, 24 February 2006 12:38 (twenty years ago)

There is so much unpleasant news in the past few days, it seems. Maybe it's something to do with winter. (Yes I know, snow in summer would be odd) But there's been the French tortured guy, the man who raped his dying stepdaughter, the man who killed his daughter cos he didn't get any attention from her mother – is it more than usual? Just a statistical cluster I know, but it's depressing anyway

beanz (beanz), Friday, 24 February 2006 12:39 (twenty years ago)

Google news...

Your search - fireman saves cat - did not match any documents.

You see what I mean...

The Man Without Shadow (Enrique), Friday, 24 February 2006 12:40 (twenty years ago)

A Google News search for "Fireman" and "Kitten" produces only this tale of woe:

Results 1 - 10 of about 49,800,000 for "Good news"

Results 1 - 10 of about 21,000,000 for "Bad news"

Hurrah!

Hello Sunshine (Hello Sunshine), Friday, 24 February 2006 12:49 (twenty years ago)

Aren't they 49,000,000 results for The Good News Bible?

Maybe this could be a thread for collecting all the most horrible news stories and then there'll all be in one place and we won't have to deal with them...

Family from Hell get life terms

Ned T.Rifle (nedtrifle), Friday, 24 February 2006 12:52 (twenty years ago)

Just f-ing awful, and I like the way that in case you were thinking this was an isolated incident they remind you of other tragedies at the end of the article...

Ned T.Rifle (nedtrifle), Friday, 24 February 2006 13:02 (twenty years ago)

Thanks, Hello, THAT is good news...
