Hello ILx, we're up in Scouseland from Thuresday til Mopnday and seeing as we can't get into Anfield for the tour or the match, we have a little extra time to fill...

we're off to dinner at Hope street (note to me, must book this) on saturday, and watching Paddy from Max and Paddy on Sunday, other than that the land is ours. Any recommendations/drink-ups?

maybe there will be some hip art in the Cathedral crypt?

there was, the only time i went to Liverpool (nine years ago).

Ahem. Are we going for a pint, or what?

Matt (Matt), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 10:46 (twenty years ago)

Tate's got an interesting exhibition on at the moment, and there are crazy machines wandering around the Walker.

I'd book for Hope Street now, if I were you.

Score some smack in Kenny and then start a fight in the Grafton.

yes we are, contacting you is on chris's list of things to do! When's best for you?

Chris looked at the Tate and we decided it looked good. Friday we've got the whole day to ourselves, as our hosts won't be back from Chesterfield until the evening. We've got all day monday in town as well. I think a trip to cheshire oaks is on the cards.

Seeing as we didn't get tickets for the match, anyone got any ideas where we could find a pub to watch it?

Vicky (Vicky), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 10:55 (twenty years ago)

I'm completely free on Saturday; I can easily clear Sunday should needs be, so either of those, really.

Hooray, pints!

As to pubs to watch the match in, most of the ones I drink in are devoid of telly I'm afraid. I shouldn't imagine you'll have too much trouble finding one, but be prepared for crowded carnage.

Last time I was in Liverpool I spent ages trying to find FACT to go see a film and use the wireless. The art there was rubbish then, but could be nice now.

When i am up in April I shall spend more time there.

John Lennon once complained that the price of fame meant
'not being able to go to the Phil for a drink'.

checkit out.

We've already highlighted the need to go to the Phil, thanks! Can't believe we never made it during our previous visits!

I think we'll be making at least one visit to the Liverpool FC shop in town, too....

I'm not sure that's a great-thing-in-Liverpool-right-now, Pinefox.

I think we'll be making at least one visit to the Liverpool FC shop in town, too....

Vile blight on Williamson Square, that is. At least we have the decency to keep our club shop at the ground.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 15:33 (twenty years ago)

No - it is a bad thing in Liverpool. I guess it belongs on another thread! The lip-reading aspect lends it a bizarre extra edge.
