hahah Yeah, me too. I was a bit younger, I think. Watched it through the keyhole. My parents were watching it in the living room.
Not a big fan of soft porn. I prefer seeing dick and vagina UP CLOSE YO.

american soft porn tend to be the "playboy" style - perfect women and men, moody lightning, glossy direction, nothing is "real",lots of cliches.german stuff - amateur young actors, sense of humor,un-shaved pussys, and funny, non cliched situations.

At the moment I am just fed up with the hardcore, mostly it's just too hardi agree with this, have you seen any movies where the people are like, ultra agressive and pull eachothers hair and spit in eachothers mouths or crotches, whoa.

Why bother watching anything really?
So why watch porn? To get you aroused, duh. It's been proven that everyone becomes aroused when watching porn, even if they admit it doesn't do a *thing*.

So anyway - anyone know the name of a softcore movie where this women (who is now a successful player in Hollywod - in the film) goes back to her hometown, remembers various make-outs she had with various men and women and eventually decides to stay there? Funny and hot, and without recourse to double a money shots.

We got cable when I was maybe 13 or 14, and we had a package with Showtime and HBO. As I quickly learned, there was lots of softcore on these stations, so I started sneaking downstairs at night and taping nude scenes -- often as short as a few seconds -- from the late night movies.
Over the next few years, the string of scenes on the tape, labeled "Saturday Night Live [some date I can't remember]", grew longer and longer. I had bits from Bikini Carwash, Emanuelle, Red Shoe Diaries, Real Sex specials, some movie about a nude calendar, various Euro-crap, etc. And I watched it over and over again (though eventually I gradually moved to internet porn and playboys as those became more of an option)
Then one day, when I was in high school, I put in the tape and found there were scenes added that I had not added myself. It turned out that my younger brother, now pubescent himself, had discovered the tape and, without saying anything about it, began adding scenes. But the weird thing is, although I knew it was him and he obviously knew that I would know, we never spoke about it, and to this day we've never acknowledged the existence of the tape to one another.

I just don't get nowadays why anyone would rent all the unrated softcore T&A movies that I see at the local video store when there's real actual porn in the back. Are you too embarassed to go into the little room with the subtle "Adult" sign above the door?

I'm amazed that poeple would think that just becasue hardcore exists softcore is redundant, not everyone wants everything now.
What I don't understand is why people in the UK buy Nuts or the like when they can buy, I don't know - is Penthouse still going? Are they really buying Nuts for the non-pictorial content?

Has there ever been a good softcore film? Not just a mainstream movie with strong sexual themes, but a movie whose primary purpose is erotic, that is entertaining and doesn't make you feel squicked out about being a human being?
― sciolism, Thursday, 9 July 2009 09:48 (sixteen years ago)
The problem is the word "entertaining."

This is a confused primary purpose. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm usually either thinking about big soapy titties OR I'm thinking about watching a real movie. Never both.

As I mentioned 'Drawn To The Flame' is quite good. Actually funny in places, alright acting and some nice soft core (in the English sense) action.

"Finally, the always adorable Glori-Anne Gilbert shows off her luscious curves while frolicking on a bed. A very lucky string of beads finds itself treated to an up-close tour of every nook and cranny of her impressive body. As I've mentioned before in various reviews, Glori-Anne has this girl-next-door quality that I find very appealing. And yes, she also has very nice cans...There are a few additional segments of Danni, Monique, and Lorissa to round out the rest of the DVD and to top up what was a nice walk down memory lane, or, perhaps more aptly, mammary lane (sorry—couldn’t resist)."

That sreviews site is very amusing, but not really geared towards anyone who isn't a man of a certain age who never outgrew the sniggering about boobies phase.
It's weird (to me) that the mainstreaming of porn hasn't led to better quality sexytime movies, movies that, say, a female who's not particularly into gynecological close-ups or escalating shock value stuff might enjoy.
― sciolism, Thursday, 9 July 2009 19:19 (sixteen years ago)
why change your production model if your business model can create a world where everyone thinks theyre supposed to be into gynecological close-ups and escalating shock value stuff

I remember some skinemax romp where a dude was shrunk to a little size and wound up in a girl's vagina when she sat on her bike seat. Then he tried to get out and ended up accidentally stimulating her while she was in class.
Does anyone remember wtf this is?

Has there ever been a good softcore film?
Hells yes! Practically anything by Zalman King but his masterpiece is Women of the Night. Also check out Some Call It Loving which stars King and is my all-time favorite film.
Joseph Sarno is hit or miss. Sadly, his best film, Young Playthings, is hard to find and the bootleg that's been floating around has horrible sound. But I got a great deal out of The Swap and How They Make It, Sin in the Suburbs (these two are on one nifty SWV DVD), and Moonlighting Wives. And even his dull ones have a midnight, too-lazy-and-vaguely-hypnotized-to-change-the-channel feel to them.
Romping through the SWV catalog is fun even if the movies suck. I dig Day of the Nightmare and The Scream of the Butterfly (both on one disc), Satan's Bed (starring a pre-John Yoko), and Fluctuations.
Finally, definitely read David Andrews' brilliant Soft in the Middle: The Contemporary Softcore Feature in Its Contexts, the best book written on softcore.
― Kevin John Bozelka, Friday, 10 July 2009 10:44 (sixteen years ago)
Sarno's Young Playthings, The Seduction of Inga and especially Laura's Toys are great. Francis Leroi's Je Suis à Prendre starring Brigitte Lahaie is beautiful as well.
Kevin, I'll follow up your book-advice!

Try Tinto Brass: "Paprika", "Miranda" or "The Key" for a start. Mileage will vary, as with all this stuff, but he's a real film maker, and his best films are crafted to look like Fellini.
