Argh, oh no, I can't decide between this and Sande and Chopper (Memory Machine)'s gig.

I really want to go to the shoegazing, though... have not been in ages and I miss it. But at the same time, I want to support my friends' club. Argh. :-(

Cuair Crithlonracha (kate), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 12:17 (nineteen years ago)

Double Arrgh.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 12:17 (nineteen years ago)

Can both be done?

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 12:20 (nineteen years ago)

I still don't know if they're actually playing, or if they're just DJ-ing and other bands are playing. If that's the case, I think I'd rather go to the shoegazing thing. (Especially as they didn't come to our club, grrr, etc. but if I start thinking about that again, I'll just get pissed off)

Someone else make up my mind for me. I'm sick of being organised. :-(

Cuair Crithlonracha (kate), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 12:20 (nineteen years ago)

Find out if they are DJing, that will definately make up my mind in favour of the shoegazers, that was fun last time.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 12:21 (nineteen years ago)

Hilary Duff?!

I think I can make this. I'm developing a taste for Thursday night drinking as an incentive to stay in the office and hit deadlines rather than taking work home.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 12:23 (nineteen years ago)

I've posted the email already to that other thread. The only thing it mentions them doing is DJ-ing. There's another band playing. It seems to be a bit... alt.country. Which means I'd rather go to the shoegazers.

Cuair Crithlonracha (kate), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 12:24 (nineteen years ago)

I fancy the shoegazing, and have not even checked for the DJs yet. Could be as fun as the last time Kate and I ran into alums of Shoey Academy.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 12:52 (nineteen years ago)

Raise a glass for me at whatever location.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 13:27 (nineteen years ago)

Dammit, Ed, now I've got the Prickle Eyed Bush stuck in my head.

I ate myself. I want a pie. (kate), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 13:47 (nineteen years ago)

i didnt know there was another thing.

codename: hilary duff (gareth), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 13:49 (nineteen years ago)

I have been promised Spacemen 3 videos. That has made up my mind for me.

I ate myself. I want a pie. (kate), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 15:16 (nineteen years ago)

What time are people getting there? I should be arriving about 8ish.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 2 March 2006 16:48 (nineteen years ago)

SOunds about right. Must rember, no good street food in hoxton.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 2 March 2006 16:52 (nineteen years ago)

Have fun you party peoples!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 2 March 2006 16:53 (nineteen years ago)

We shall raise a glass to you.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 2 March 2006 16:54 (nineteen years ago)

Yay! Thanks!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 2 March 2006 16:54 (nineteen years ago)

What does DC mean about Hilary Duff?

Where is Hoxton, really? I don't know.

the bellefox, Thursday, 2 March 2006 16:58 (nineteen years ago)

I was going to say "I can't drink, I can't raise a glass to you..." but after the crapX0r going on in my department right now, I think I shall be in need of a few stiff drinks. Which shall be raised in your honour.

Trying to think of what I shall eat on the way. I really want a pasty but I don't think the pirates have got that far East.

I ate myself. I want a pie. (kate), Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:00 (nineteen years ago)

Anna and I had lunch in Music Hall Bar which had inexpensive food brought without fuss by someone wearing black clothes, who SMILED. I think it's definitely worth going back there.

Tonight I am going to see a fillum instead of getting shoey. Got some work commissioned today so don't want a hangover tomorrow.

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:11 (nineteen years ago)

I would still like to know.

Is it only about 3 people who are going to this event, then?

the bellefox, Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:15 (nineteen years ago)

Possibly 4?

And Pinefox, Hoxton is the bit of Hackney that is directly North of The City. Old Street is the Tube Station. The Legion is on Old Street, just before it reaches Kingsland Road. You might like the music, since you've been getting into My Bloody Valentine.

I ate myself. I want a pie. (kate), Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:18 (nineteen years ago)

'Been getting into'?? I bought Loveless 5 months after it came out! OK, that was probably 5 months after you bought it.

But yes, I might like the music. I would like to go to this, in theory, but I suppose it will not happen.

the bellefox, Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:33 (nineteen years ago)

But I thought there was a whole thread recently on ILM about you discovering/rediscovering MBV! Maybe I misinterpreted. (Or maybe it was someone else, and I truly am losing my mind.)

I ate myself. I want a pie. (kate), Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:35 (nineteen years ago)

hoxton is on a map

i dont know what DC means, about duff. it is confusing

i should go to this. in fact, i will. around 8.

i will drink a beer

codename: hilary duff (gareth), Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:57 (nineteen years ago)

No, it was me, all right, rediscovering, I suppose.

I would like to go to the thing. Is it expensive?

the bellefox, Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:59 (nineteen years ago)

It's usually been about £5? But then again, I've usually had a flyer.

I ate myself. I want a pie. (kate), Thursday, 2 March 2006 18:03 (nineteen years ago)

I'm trying to figure out whether to go and get some sit-down supper for an hour somewhere now. Sigh. I shall have to get some more money out. And I can't think where, either. Bah.

I ate myself. I want a pie. (kate), Thursday, 2 March 2006 18:07 (nineteen years ago)

My bank just called me to say my stolen £350 has been refunded! I am definitely up for a beer now.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 2 March 2006 18:32 (nineteen years ago)

i woke up on a bus, in barnet, at 4am

hilary duff (gareth), Friday, 3 March 2006 10:36 (nineteen years ago)

Ha ha, did you wake up with your wallet gone and that chick nowhere in sight, Gareth? ;-)

I had such a good time. That was great. I'm in love with Mainline. All seven of them. I want to take them home and have them play in my living room, all day long. Wubwubwub.

And The Morning After Girls *ARE* The Dandy Warhols, and I claim my £5.

Wubwubwub.

I ate myself. I want a pie. (kate), Friday, 3 March 2006 11:16 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, and you were right, Ed - they are Australian. I don't know why I thought they were Dutch.

All Is Wub (kate), Friday, 3 March 2006 11:22 (nineteen years ago)

you promised me the girl would take her top off. She didn't.

Ed (dali), Friday, 3 March 2006 11:22 (nineteen years ago)

But that would be too easy, and people would *know* who they were! That's why Peter dyed his hair black, too.

I couldn't find Mainline on the web. There are too many bands called Mainline. One is from Grimsby and their average age is 14. Blimey! When FP gets back, I shall send him to investigate.

All Is Wub (kate), Friday, 3 March 2006 11:27 (nineteen years ago)

mainline were abysmal. i didnt like the other band much either. the best record i heard all night was...bauhaus(!)

yet, i really had a rather good time in the end:)

hilary duff (gareth), Friday, 3 March 2006 11:31 (nineteen years ago)

Oh to be thin, pale and 'interesting'.

Ed (dali), Friday, 3 March 2006 11:34 (nineteen years ago)

Oh go on, Gareth! They were the best Spacemen 3/Spiritualized/BRMC/Stooges/Velvets tribute band ever. OK, their singer sounded a bit too much like Bono, but who listens to the vocals in dronerock bands?

Awwww, Ed, they're all pretty tedious once you actually start talking to them. They know nothing about molecular physics or steam engineering. They look pretty, but they're boring as f*ck.

All Is Wub (kate), Friday, 3 March 2006 11:41 (nineteen years ago)

I shall stick to persuing the Robot obsessed Texan physicist that OK Cupid threw up the other day.

Ed (dali), Friday, 3 March 2006 11:45 (nineteen years ago)

Unfair, I only get total lamers thrown up by that. They all still live wiith their parents and are "looking for someone special." Bleeee.

Anna (Anna), Friday, 3 March 2006 11:50 (nineteen years ago)

Oh dear, I've finally found the real Mainline site. They're from Dublin. Not just dirty dronerock boys, but *Irish* dirty dronerock boys. And they're all brothers. This is the best thing ever.

Physicists are great, but stay clear of Texans. :-?

All Is Wub (kate), Friday, 3 March 2006 11:51 (nineteen years ago)

I stopped bothering with OKCupid when the first, best match thrown up was someone I'd gone out with already and the second was the rock critic formerly known as Vanilla Price (BTW Ed, no sign of the delivery and post here, but none for you).

Sorry I didn't come to this - I went with a friend to see Capote (in this voice, I wanted Phillip Seymour Hoffman to say 'I'm Mr Garrison and DRUGS ARE BAD' but after that whimsical thought I settled in and loved it).

suzy (suzy), Friday, 3 March 2006 11:51 (nineteen years ago)

They all still live wiith their parents and are "looking for someone special."

Grrrrrreat. You just described my current boy. :-(

::looks at the pretty Irish dirty dronerock brothers::

All Is Wub (kate), Friday, 3 March 2006 11:52 (nineteen years ago)

http://www.mainlinesounds.com/

Oh my goodness, I need to visit Dublin, erm... now!

All Is Wub (kate), Friday, 3 March 2006 11:58 (nineteen years ago)

I'm just curious as to why they choose to send them to me. It's like when iTunes went mad and said "You bought Little Fluffy Clouds (7" version) by The Orb ... We recomend All I Want For Christmas by Mariah Carey."

Anna (Anna), Friday, 3 March 2006 12:00 (nineteen years ago)

What happened to Gareth? I woke up this morning to a text message consisting of a broad grin face and was intrigued.

I really disliked the band, but the rest was cool.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 3 March 2006 12:34 (nineteen years ago)

I'm still thinking about all seven brothers crammed into that tiny, hot, sweaty backstage.

::refrains from making the obligatory seven brides for seven brothers joke::

All Is Wub (kate), Friday, 3 March 2006 12:36 (nineteen years ago)

nothing happened to me, i fell asleep on the bus

actually, i dont know what happened to me, theres a chunk of the night missing

codename: hilary duff (gareth), Friday, 3 March 2006 12:37 (nineteen years ago)

though the :D wasn't about anything anyway, other than stuff that happened yesterday, that means things are going to be ok.

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Friday, 3 March 2006 13:26 (nineteen years ago)

No, not them. Neither are Electric Mainline, Mainline (from Grimsby) or Spiritualized Electric Mainline.

I mean, it might perhaps help if they picked a more distinctive name...
