Undercover has all these creepy face masks on the models, and then there's Viktor & Rolf..

dar1a g (daria g), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 21:10 (nineteen years ago)

I liked the mice mask faces.

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 21:23 (nineteen years ago)

I'd like to wear it to work. The pirate hat isn't working anymore.

My Psychic Friends Are Strangely Silent (Ex Leon), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 21:25 (nineteen years ago)

fall already?

im in love with a marc jacobs summer collection sundress:

http://img332.imageshack.us/img332/5871/sundressmj0ho.jpg

the back is square and low. hot.

sunny successor (katharine), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 21:29 (nineteen years ago)

also, ive started to notice that the only clothes i buy, or am interested in, are those worn by blonde models. strange, no?

sunny successor (katharine), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 21:32 (nineteen years ago)

Sure, fall! why not. I like all the plaid for fall, I've been looking for an 80's soft cotton plaid button down shirt, to wear in summer as well.. I used to have one of my mom's and can't recall if I gave it away or not. I like that Marc Jacobs did some stuff referencing his grunge collection, figuring we've recycled everything else, it's about time for that. I have this awesome navy jacket with a Sub Pop patch, time to bust it out..

dar1a g (daria g), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 23:04 (nineteen years ago)

Speaking as a straight man, that stripey dress is hott.

phil d. (Phil D.), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 23:06 (nineteen years ago)

katharine, that dress is super cute and i bet you'd look super hot in it!

tehresa (tehresa), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 23:09 (nineteen years ago)

I'd like some sailor pants--anyone know where I can find some cheap ones?

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 23:18 (nineteen years ago)

Mary, the J Crew has sailor pants I think.

dar1a g (daria g), Thursday, 2 March 2006 05:12 (nineteen years ago)

last season's balenciaga was so great. the white military coat. omg.

fall 07's jeremy scott is hilarious. i love the french fries.

phil-two (phil-two), Thursday, 2 March 2006 05:14 (nineteen years ago)

In either Elle or Vogue pretty recently there's a photo shoot w/Maggie Cheung in Balenciaga, including that white coat. I seem to recall it also featured space aliens. nice.

dar1a g (daria g), Thursday, 2 March 2006 05:42 (nineteen years ago)

Oh wow.. Maggie Cheung? Is it the current issue?

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Thursday, 2 March 2006 05:55 (nineteen years ago)

No, last year, for certain..

dar1a g (daria g), Thursday, 2 March 2006 06:06 (nineteen years ago)

Chanel

this really amuses me, I never would've thought to put these together, also it kind of looks like she's all dressed up to take out the trash.

Brundibar = jumpers + headscarves + kneesocks!

youn, Sunday, 5 March 2006 03:07 (nineteen years ago)

caps for sale + peacoats + motherhood + back alley ways + milk + cocks (red feathers) + cache + nationalism + india + d.h. lawrence yellow dress failed fashion + dawn + Paris + before 40!

youn, Sunday, 5 March 2006 03:10 (nineteen years ago)

from tomorrow's NYT fashion section - [Ghesquiere's] current advertising campaign for Balenciaga, with its images of striped stovepipe trousers and paisley dresses that could have come right out of "Goodbye Baby and Amen," David Bailey's classic book of 1960's portraits, offers a glimpse into a shifting focus that may make London the next place to be.

There are plenty of anecdotal reasons to credit this supposition, among them the aural wall of Depeche Mode that bracketed runways all season.

I've been obsessed with Depeche Mode for about a year now. I don't know why all of a sudden, but they're so great. I hated them up until about 2002.

dar1a g (daria g), Sunday, 5 March 2006 04:16 (nineteen years ago)

It sounds like if they are going to focus on London they will look at ALL THE WRONG PEOPLE AND VERY BAD REFERENCES.

suzy (suzy), Sunday, 5 March 2006 07:34 (nineteen years ago)

Oh I don't understand all of this 'high fashion' stuff, it's mostly all odd looking chicks wearing bin bags innit, I've never quite understood how this translates down to Marks and Spencers.

SO, can anyone tell me IN ENGLISH wot sort of COATS are going to appear, cos I want one, and it's either something fashionable or I'm buying a parka from the army and navy stall, buying addidas trainers and putting Shine 3 on my... er... mobile phone cos I don't have an iPod.

Lucretia My Reflection (Lucretia My Reflection), Monday, 6 March 2006 16:16 (nineteen years ago)

Like: bullet points!

- no white coats for me tho plz, I am a filthy city living ho and white looks SOOO stupid on me
- I am a big fat giffer
- thus I should just get off this thread and get me 1xbinbag.

Lucretia My Reflection (Lucretia My Reflection), Monday, 6 March 2006 16:17 (nineteen years ago)

i want that chanel trash bag!

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 17:42 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, I like it too. I wonder what it looks like in reality, how well it's made? I'd like a black patent bag.. The other day I was in a department store & passed the handbag section on the way out, and out of curiosity I examined some of the Chloe bags just to see what the fuss was about, and I don't get it - they seemed to be terribly made, felt cheap, looked cheap, and it was like $1400+ for them. I thought you'd at least have a decently assembled bag for that price. what in the world.

I do think sometimes about investing in a really good quality bag, not trendy but not absolutely not old & stuffy looking either, and I've no idea what would suit me. No obvious logos. And it has to be well made.

dar1a g (daria g), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 18:24 (nineteen years ago)

i don't like prada bags for that reason. they just look cheap close up. chanel bags seem to be really good quality, as do bottega veneta. i'm not fortunate enough to own any, but i've got a few lucky friends.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 18:29 (nineteen years ago)

also, comme des garcons used to do bags/wallets that looked great and wore like iron (my friend still has hers years on) but i have a vague feeling that they discontinued the range.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 18:32 (nineteen years ago)

I would love a bottega veneta bag, they always look so classic.

My Psychic Friends Are Strangely Silent (Ex Leon), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 18:32 (nineteen years ago)

five months pass...
Revive! I am somewhat fashion-challenged and am trying to identify must-haves for fall. So far my list goes something like:

1. Platform pumps
2. Opaque tights
3. Dark colors
4. Huge bag (?)
5. Skinny jeans (not at all sure this is a look I should attempt)
6. Wide-legged trousers (?)
7. Other? Help me! What's on your list?

Advice also sought for Fall 2006 makeup, nail color, etc.

quincie (quincie), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 13:20 (eighteen years ago)

I thought boyfriend fit jeans had taken over from skinny ones. They have in my fat-thighed world, anyway :)

Mädchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 13:23 (eighteen years ago)

I have the most fantastic baggy legged grey herringbone tweed suit to pick up from Nichole Fahri tomorrow.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 13:24 (eighteen years ago)

if you get a bag, get a good quality plain one instead of one loaded with weird studs and braided bits and trimmings. you'll be able to use it for ages, long after the "huge bag" trend has passed.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 13:57 (eighteen years ago)

colors: purple (dark and plummy), grey (dark and heather), black. i've seen a lot of dark grey accented with really striking colors, like a plain dress with brick red thick tights, which i like quite a bit.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 14:02 (eighteen years ago)

Q, the shoes I was recommending you last night:
http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7238974.html

- wear like troopers
- surprisingly comfortable despite v. high heel
- cuet, always get compliments

I have in the blue and the red and am considering buying the black, that's how much I love these shoes.

Allyzay is cool: with Blue n White, with Eli Manning, with NY Giants (allyzay), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 14:30 (eighteen years ago)

currently looking for vintage ferragamo shoes with patent cap toes, but this is just a thing.. (also they're within my budget).. I would get chanel if I could afford it

lots of grey. steel grey, not heather grey. aubergine.

other stuff I personally am hunting for: purple plastic jewelry (this is hard to find even on ebay.. grr..). neon or 100% clear lucite jewelry (ditto).

cobalt blue accessories
http://www.jcrew.com/images/nov299/emstyle/78312_BL8442.jpg

I never did find a good giant patent leather bag. I like them but it's hard to find patent that looks good. currently carrying around a vintage black coach bag with brass hardware.. because it's sturdy and useful and I got it at a thrift for $5. also I guess it would go with all the horsey stuff I'm seeing.

dar1a g (daria g), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 15:23 (eighteen years ago)

Hmmm. . . I don't know the difference between steel grey and heather grey :(

Can anyone recommend a good brand of tights? Note that I am something of a giant (almost 6 feet) so they have to be loooooong.

Ally I LOVE those shoes!

quincie (quincie), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 16:00 (eighteen years ago)

Also I am thinking of eschewing my usual red lip and going for a pale lip and dramatic brown eye. Although I seem to recall looking pretty ghastly with a pale lip.

quincie (quincie), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 16:03 (eighteen years ago)

heather is nice too! I just pref steel grey (ie dark grey no heathering.. uh.. one solid tone, right?)

wolford, is that the brand for tights? I don't know where you buy in dc though

dar1a g (daria g), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 17:49 (eighteen years ago)

Wolford sounds familiar. I will investigate!

quincie (quincie), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 18:03 (eighteen years ago)

wolford are good but VERY expensive.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 18:05 (eighteen years ago)

Oh my god you're not kidding! I found some on amazon--over fifty bucks per pair.

Hmm. Maybe DKNY as a more economical option?

quincie (quincie), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 18:12 (eighteen years ago)

So men's shop fashion for fall just looks like an emaciated cardigan bonanza. Which hurts me, as a former Mr Cardigan Man. Damn you, fall fashion 2006.

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 18:23 (eighteen years ago)

DKNY's were pretty good quality, in my experience.

Allyzay is cool: with Blue n White, with Eli Manning, with NY Giants (allyzay), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 18:26 (eighteen years ago)

what's with raccoon eyed chick up this thread?!?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 18:29 (eighteen years ago)

I wanna rock the raccoon look this fall! But slashing on red lipstick is so much easier.

quincie (quincie), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 18:59 (eighteen years ago)

Eh, never liked DKNY. I'd buy her clothes a few seasons only to realize what a daft twit I was for buying such crap clothes. I think the fabric she uses (or used) is just horrendous.

Apparently high waisted jeans (or trousers?) are the thing. Personally I'd rather HURL all over myself than wear'em. But yes low waisted jeans are OUT.

How do people wear high heels? I'm serious because I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE to wear but my feet always hurt after five minutes and I like a silly goose trotting around in high heels. All, and I do mean all, other people are GREAT at wearing high heels. Even that guy who bought high heel Gucci boots for himself a few years ago.

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 19:02 (eighteen years ago)

I have subscribed to Ally's high heeled wisdom: the shoes are gonna hurt, they're gonna rub random parts of your footsies raw, but you must suck it up and soldier on because they look HOTT.

Ally one of those great-at-wearing-high-heels kinda gals.

quincie (quincie), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 19:06 (eighteen years ago)

May I reiterate that I'm having a hard time picturing myself in high-waisted skinny jeans? I mean show me one (1) chick with hips that can actually pull off that look!

quincie (quincie), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 19:08 (eighteen years ago)

:-( so I just DO it? i had the most gorgeous prada high heeled shoes but my mother giggled every time i entered the shop. so i stopped wearing'em. and then i had some DELICIOUS - really, i wanted to lick'em - miu miu high heeled shoes in purple. *sigh*

oh quincie, even kate moss can't pull that off. or rather she'd better to pull it off... it's horrendous.

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 19:10 (eighteen years ago)

i want a black sailor suit

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 12:28 (eighteen years ago)

My greatest influence of late has been the Manson Girls.

http://futility.typepad.com/futility/images/3_1.jpg

Tough femininity. If we are considering our friends style choices (If Heather did it, so can I): Surrounding yourself with other women equal in craziness to yourself (it both scares and titillates men). Granny dresses and Beatles sloganeering in blood.. Also: the color sky blue, and long, flat hair. I stop short at carving a swastika into my forehead, though (always have).

Secondly, Gillian Welch:

http://www.metroactive.com/papers/cruz/06.26.02/gifs/welch2-0226.jpg

Touchstones: vintage dresses, floral SHIRT dresses (urgent and key), pairing said dresses with either men's-looking dress shoes or boots, as pictured below, hair an afterthought (after the Manson tradition), exuding poise while maintaining terrible posture (it's a tightrope), guitar as constant companion.

http://www.emmylou.net/to2.jpg

Above: Nice gams (that's Gil).

Lastly, the Baez sisters:

http://www.suitelorraine.com/suitelorraine/Media/january-01/joan-mimi.jpg

Note bare feet. Again with the shirt dresses, flat hair and flatter affect, and tough femininity. Do I really have to mention: consorting exclusively with your sister and men who play guitar? I should add here that I originally thought of the Baez women because I could not locate a photo of the Maryvillian Ross family online -- shame! It's basically the same thing.

Essentially: Your great Aunt who lives alone with cats and had a horrible trauma in her past that no one ever talks about, but everyone knows about. More simply: Pulled together, but something just slightly askew. More complicatedly: Looking like America's Most Haunted.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 12:30 (eighteen years ago)

Oh god, I just despair.

Angel In Love With Her Own Pedals (kate), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 12:32 (eighteen years ago)

I love those shoes Ally posted - although that Zappos place won't ship internationally which I consider to be a crime.

In the UK I like www.asos.com.

I still do not understand how the "high fashion" pictures really work! Eg, the facemasks! I am certainly not going to wear a facemask. I suspect I am missing a layer of meaning, as if I have only read the bit of Gravity's Rainbow about the bananas and missed the rest (this is also true)!

Roxy... MOST HAUNTED is BRILLIANT! Perhaps my look should be Derek Acorah.

Bhumibol Adulyadej (Lucretia My Reflection), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 12:53 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, incidentally - I've never found a heeled shoe I like which goes with smart trousers. Whaddyareckon to THAT? It's all pumps (if I'm making an EFFORT ha) or trainers (I am starting to feel a bit ashamed ofwearing them all the time).

Bhumibol Adulyadej (Lucretia My Reflection), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 12:56 (eighteen years ago)

I think it may be all about the ankle boot.

Archel (Archel), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 12:59 (eighteen years ago)

I don't think that I like... ankle boots, really - I've never once seen a single pair of ankle boots I've thought "oh, dey look nice dem boots". Or similar.

I'm also not a very good trouser wearer, being short and podgy w/ big bottom etc.

Bhumibol Adulyadej (Lucretia My Reflection), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:04 (eighteen years ago)

yeah I think ankle boots make most legs look unattractive.

Sam: Screwed and Chopped (Molly Jones), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:05 (eighteen years ago)

Starry, it depends on how you wear your trousers. Long ones with wide-ish legs look awesome with heels of all types: sandal, boot, pump...but the hems have to just brush the floor even with the shoes on. In other words the pants will be too long to go with flats, should you so choose. Yes, this is kind of a pain, wardrobe-wise...but on the other hand, it makes legs look quite long, because the trouser is uninterrupted all the way to the floor.

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:09 (eighteen years ago)

Also extremely difficult to pull off if you have a 34 inch inseam, unless you enjoy spending 13x for trousers as everyone else. So I just don't wear them, myself. I don't wear flats + unable to spend $$$$$$$$$ on pants = forget that shit.

Allyzay is cool: with Blue n White, with Eli Manning, with NY Giants (allyzay), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:15 (eighteen years ago)

Pumps are heels, yes? Or is this a UK/US terminology thingie?

Laurel where do you stand on cuffed vs. non-cuffed trousers?

quincie (quincie), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:17 (eighteen years ago)

xpost to Ally

that's longer than my left inside leg measurement (33.5") but the same as my right, I have no idea how I manage straight lines

(long trousers as laurel describes teen rock fan in camden town, london 1996-forever)

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:19 (eighteen years ago)

Haha - I am wearing "petite range" trousers at the moment and they're STILL long on me! So, the long trouser thing is there, but I still can't quite "do" heels with them - this might be a psychological barrier mind.

Bhumibol Adulyadej (Lucretia My Reflection), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:19 (eighteen years ago)

cuffed? are we talking turn ups here or buttons/cufflinks by the feet with a slit up the back of the legs?

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:19 (eighteen years ago)

Turn ups on the bottom of the trouser. I think the alternative may be more like the dread parchute pants!

quincie (quincie), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:21 (eighteen years ago)

I don't know about the year-to-year vagaries of fashion, I think deep cuffs are really sharp but they may also be very three years-ago.

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:25 (eighteen years ago)

i really dislike cuffed wide-legged trousers (actually wide-legged trousers in general), but that's just personal preference.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:29 (eighteen years ago)

shorts are the way forward.

i'm not teh_kit, ffs! (g-kit), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:30 (eighteen years ago)

and re: skinny jeans, they're much more flattering than you'd think on many people. it seems like the extreme, extra-long cigarette leg (supertight but kind of bunchy around the ankle) is on the way out, which is a good thing - you have to be very tall and model-slim for that look to work.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:33 (eighteen years ago)

I don't really wear pants much, some jeans for cash(ual) but all skirts for everything else. I like very long, droopy cuffed pants on other people but I do note that these are usually people with slim hips and plenty of leg, ie NOT ME.

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:34 (eighteen years ago)

The lassies all look good, except for the ones that Laurel and Roxy Muzak posted. (Gillian Welch has more than enough talent to make up for this.)

In general, the 'trouble' with fashion seems to me to be that beautiful girls look beautiful in almost anything, so taking pictures of them in almost anything doesn't prove much about the clothes.

the pinefox (the pinefox), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:45 (eighteen years ago)

I am surprised I managed to put that so clearly, for once.

the pinefox (the pinefox), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:45 (eighteen years ago)

Good point, PF. I have to stop myself when I see something I like and ask, do I actually like this, or do I just like the model?

Q, you can have both. You don't have to choose between cuffs and non cuffs. I am wearing cuffed pants right now--I like them, but I am a prep. You can see if they are to your likeing tonigh.

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:52 (eighteen years ago)

Wolfords ARE expensive but if you take care of them, they last forever.

M. White (Miguelito), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:54 (eighteen years ago)

When you say 'prep', is that like the word 'preppie'?

the pinefox (the pinefox), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:56 (eighteen years ago)

I never think about the models, actually! Runway fashion is mostly conceptual, for me -- see what lines are in, what colors. They won't be knocked off quickly enough to wear this fall and I can't afford the originals, OBV, but I can find vintage pieces that are similar enough, or things from my own closet that I can adapt. It's just for inspiration.

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:59 (eighteen years ago)

club monaco has trousers cut v long, usually. (some kinds). today I am wearing caramel colored trousers from zara that are too long for me & I have 34 or 35" inseam too.. super cheap. like $39 I think. of course, like all zara trousers I feel really fat the whole time I'm wearing them

cuffs are cool, I think the problem is, they have to really fit, if they are too short they're horrible. also, difficult to hem.

dar1a g (daria g), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 14:48 (eighteen years ago)

Feeling really fat is a problem with a lot of stuff that is cheaper. For some reason a lot of less expensive brands don't seem to, like, increase the crotch to waist length proportionately with increasing the inseam??? I don't get it. I just don't think trousers are ever going to work out for me.

Allyzay is cool: with Blue n White, with Eli Manning, with NY Giants (allyzay), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 14:51 (eighteen years ago)

My problem with cheap trousers is that they tend not to be fully lined, and I am a stickler for some trouser linin'.

quincie (quincie), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 14:56 (eighteen years ago)

Haha. My problem with cheap trousers is that they're trousers. Ally: of course, "cheap" means having to cut corners! Every change to fit/proportion means $$$ more in the development & production process. Bleergh.

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 15:00 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, exactly. I can't deal with walking around all day feeling like I've got monster camel toe and a 3-inch roll, but if I buy trousers that fit waist-hips-crotch they look like I'm waiting for the floods to come. So, skirts it is. Funnily I don't have this problem that badly buying jeans.

Allyzay is cool: with Blue n White, with Eli Manning, with NY Giants (allyzay), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 15:01 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, you're right ally about the cheaper brands - they just make the legs longer, so maybe part of the feeling fat problem is that the waistband hits lower than it's supposed to. ps - where should I go for slightly expensive pair then? unfortunately right now I can't afford higher than theory/marc by marc jacobs price range.

dar1a g (daria g), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 15:17 (eighteen years ago)

Theory would be pretty good! I have a jacket of theirs that I err, inherited? found? A
random thing someone left at my house, anyway, and the fit is PERFECT, which is nothing less than shocking.

Nabisco: No. Ew.

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 15:40 (eighteen years ago)

Sorry, N, I don't love anything about Helsinki girl except for her shoes.

After reading Sartorialist last night, I am thinking about APC jeans. I was amazined by reading the comments at the various interesting ways people have of caring for their jeans~including showering in them to maintain proper fit.

x-post

I do not take care of my jeans at all.

Also, nabisco, no.

Allyzay is cool: with Blue n White, with Eli Manning, with NY Giants (allyzay), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 16:04 (eighteen years ago)

cute on her, but if anyone else tried it would probably be horrific.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 16:21 (eighteen years ago)

It is nice to be able to agree with the people disagreeing with Nabisco.

Is Laurel saying that there is a company that makes clothes, called Theory?

the pinefox (the pinefox), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 16:44 (eighteen years ago)

PF: Yes. Don't know whether they have their own website but they're def carried at Bloomingdale's, Saks, Nordstroms, BlueFly, etc etc.

Anyway, N, Dior did a dress shirt some years ago with a long, trailing collar like that Helsinki girl's version, except on the Dior shirt the collar was turned to the left, buttoned up the left shoulder, and both collar points swept over the left lapel like beautiful, pinstriped swallow wings. Can't beat that with a stick, plus the tailoring was more inventive. :)

If I ever become a hollywood starlet (chance of this happening: 0%), I am going to wear Carolina Herrera exclusively!

sweater dresses and short cropped boxy buttonless jackets with big collars - so brilliant overexposure is inevitable

one month passes...
I went in Reiss in Angel on Saturday and was quite stunned by the prices. You think you're handling a £100 jacket but it's over three times that and doesn't even look that good.

Need suggestions for new winter coat tho - one that doesn't make me look like a hobo (the poorly kept stubble sees to that on it's own).
