Let me reiterate, this was the BACKSTAGE bathroom. The one that only bands (and presumably Empty Bottle staffers) can use.

J0hn Darnie11e, I'm looking at you.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 07:49 (nineteen years ago)

Google google.. Oct 14, 2005. I guess it could be! I still hope it was Nick or Sarah.

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 2 March 2006 07:52 (nineteen years ago)

Also, I said to Chris earlier, we've played there four or five times, but this is the first time I've noticed it.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 07:55 (nineteen years ago)

has m0mus played chicago?

Autonomous University of Zacatecas (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 2 March 2006 12:02 (nineteen years ago)

It's Kanye, obv.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 2 March 2006 12:03 (nineteen years ago)

I think Momus has played at that club in fact, but not for a few years!

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 14:21 (nineteen years ago)

The picture looks like the cover to Smell the Glove -- what does it say?

The Milkmaid (of human kindness) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 14:23 (nineteen years ago)

"Hi ILX corny indie fuxors"

That seems specific enough.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 2 March 2006 14:26 (nineteen years ago)

could've been also batman. or robin. or the joker.

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Thursday, 2 March 2006 14:29 (nineteen years ago)

or a lurker!

The Milkmaid (of human kindness) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 14:30 (nineteen years ago)

...although it would have to be a pretty serious lurker to bother to scrawl something on a backstage bathroom wall.

The Milkmaid (of human kindness) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 14:31 (nineteen years ago)

well that's wot lurkers lurkingly do!

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Thursday, 2 March 2006 14:41 (nineteen years ago)

There's graffiti in the Pilot Light bathroom in Knoxville that says simply "ILX."

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Thursday, 2 March 2006 14:42 (nineteen years ago)

Korny Indie FluX0rs

Redd Scharlach (Ken L), Thursday, 2 March 2006 14:43 (nineteen years ago)

"Korn? I don't remember korn!"

Illy Nelson (Ken L), Thursday, 2 March 2006 14:44 (nineteen years ago)

Looks like a turf war!

bobpeck (bobpeck), Thursday, 2 March 2006 15:29 (nineteen years ago)

Any new messages?

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 2 March 2006 15:31 (nineteen years ago)

So, no?

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 2 March 2006 17:22 (nineteen years ago)

What?

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:49 (nineteen years ago)

bobpeck, the lurker strikes again? who is this mystery human?

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:51 (nineteen years ago)

um, how often do you bring your camera into the mens room mr. c?

chicago kevin (chicago kevin), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:51 (nineteen years ago)

Ha, I saw it there at the beginning of the night, and then later on went to my car to get my camera.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:54 (nineteen years ago)

(Partially so I could show Chris and Dan.)

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:55 (nineteen years ago)

It was not me, we've only played at EB once and I was too nervous to leave graffiti.

n/a (Nick A.), Thursday, 2 March 2006 20:17 (nineteen years ago)

I'm beginning to wonder if maybe I wrote it one time when I was drunk.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 20:18 (nineteen years ago)

HA!

Sarah Madkitten McLusky (coco), Thursday, 2 March 2006 20:39 (nineteen years ago)

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Thursday, 2 March 2006 21:49 (nineteen years ago)

Once again, chicago in being way behind nyc shocka!

R.I.P. Concrete Octopus ]-`: (ex machina), Thursday, 2 March 2006 21:53 (nineteen years ago)

Way, way behind. There's Sinister graffiti in the women's bathroom at the Blind Tiger Alehouse from probably 5+ years ago. :)

Laurel (Laurel), Thursday, 2 March 2006 21:55 (nineteen years ago)

also: "HI DERE"

R.I.P. Concrete Octopus ]-`: (ex machina), Thursday, 2 March 2006 21:56 (nineteen years ago)

It's about one notch above tagging "KoL RULEZ" -- goddamn nerds.

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Thursday, 2 March 2006 21:57 (nineteen years ago)

a tagger is you!

gbx (skowly), Thursday, 2 March 2006 21:59 (nineteen years ago)

I hope this "joker" has better material than that.

I'm hesitant to rely on this tired old meme, but surely if anyone else had done this, jaymc would have known about it, therefore it must be he himself what done it. It's like The Paradox Of The Barbers' Haircuts, sort of.

Redd Scharlach (Ken L), Thursday, 2 March 2006 22:02 (nineteen years ago)

I'm almost offended not to be a suspect.

Nabisco, your name did come up last night, but we didn't know in what capacity you would have had the opportunity to use the backstage bathroom.

We need to Photoshop Sarah and n/a as the Mastermind duo in front of that plane shot.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 2 March 2006 22:55 (nineteen years ago)

That's my favorite backstage ever! It's like a little clubhouse or something with the sofas, eating polish food and old style, okay.

andy --, Thursday, 2 March 2006 23:01 (nineteen years ago)

You mean like the downstairs part? The green room?

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 23:03 (nineteen years ago)

http://www.zuckermanpharmacy.com/images/products/big/045039.gif

Yeah, the downstairs if very nice and homey.

andy --, Thursday, 2 March 2006 23:08 (nineteen years ago)

There is Sinister graffiti all across America.

I know, because sadly, I have done some of it. :/ :/ :/

POOP BITCH (Mandee), Thursday, 2 March 2006 23:09 (nineteen years ago)

That's true, I guess. I've never really spent much time down there because I'm usually upstairs mingling with people before and after the show.

Also, I think I prefer clubs that leave a tray of beers on ice in the green room in lieu of drink tickets -- it feels more luxurious, and you don't have to waste your time standing in line at the bar.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 23:10 (nineteen years ago)

(Although in the end, free beer is free beer, so I don't really care all that much!)

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 23:11 (nineteen years ago)

A tub o' beer is more social but some fancy-pants prefer drink tickets so they can have their stoli & vanilla juice or whatever the fuck it is.

andy --, Thursday, 2 March 2006 23:16 (nineteen years ago)

haha FINALLY SOMEONE FINDS IT"!!!!!!!111

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 2 March 2006 23:19 (nineteen years ago)

gbx (skowly), Thursday, 2 March 2006 23:25 (nineteen years ago)

ken c, you have never even been here, have you?

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 23:25 (nineteen years ago)

He could have come over and not told anyone.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 2 March 2006 23:25 (nineteen years ago)

Your search - "red bull dozers" "empty bottle" - did not match any documents.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 23:26 (nineteen years ago)

that isn't the name of his band

R.I.P. Concrete Octopus ]-`: (ex machina), Thursday, 2 March 2006 23:27 (nineteen years ago)

http://www.theurbanwire.com/stories/images/stories/kenchu2.jpg

Ken Chu is a member of Asia's most popular boyband: F4 (also known as Flower 4). He recently released a very good album, "On Ken's Time".

Ken Chu is a multi-talented artist dabbling in photography, singing, and acting. He composes his own songs, writes his own lyrics and speaks at least 5 different languages.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 2 March 2006 23:33 (nineteen years ago)

omg otm

R.I.P. Concrete Octopus ]-`: (ex machina), Thursday, 2 March 2006 23:33 (nineteen years ago)

Bullshit isn't a language.

Adam Rice Lacucaracha (nordicskilla), Thursday, 2 March 2006 23:37 (nineteen years ago)

When you're dabbling it is.

andy --, Thursday, 2 March 2006 23:51 (nineteen years ago)

ken has been in chicago

i saw him there

POOP BITCH (Mandee), Friday, 3 March 2006 00:15 (nineteen years ago)

the best ilx graffiti is the Alex in NYC tag at Siberia that he did like ten years ago and actually signed "ALEX IN NYC".

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Friday, 3 March 2006 00:20 (nineteen years ago)

i have been to the empty bottle a few times. but ive photographed the graffiti there...

this building in lower manhattan is home to ILX Systems

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 3 March 2006 03:15 (nineteen years ago)

I have never been to the empty bottle but I've never photographed the graffiti there...

RJG (RJG), Friday, 3 March 2006 03:26 (nineteen years ago)

damn, that should read "but ive only photographed the graffiti there..."

its late. my brain is mush. mush!

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Friday, 3 March 2006 03:57 (nineteen years ago)

You took a camera there, only to photograph the graffiti there?

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 3 March 2006 08:41 (nineteen years ago)

ILX is fag oriented.

u bangee stomp, Friday, 3 March 2006 09:40 (nineteen years ago)

fap oriented, I think you'll find

beanz (beanz), Friday, 3 March 2006 09:45 (nineteen years ago)

the former.

we dont need ilx graffiti in little rock because every other number plate is ILE or ILX. it seems appropriate at this point to say its unsettling but it really isnt. maybe its like that in every state.

sunny successor (katharine), Friday, 3 March 2006 14:43 (nineteen years ago)

i've been to the empty bottle thousands of times but never photographed the graffiti inside. i did photograph graffiti in my neighborhood which included a stencil someone painted on the south window of the bottle.

chicago kevin (chicago kevin), Friday, 3 March 2006 14:50 (nineteen years ago)

How did Encyclopedia ILX know that the graffito on teh 5IHTHOUSE wall was drying?

Redd Scharlach (Ken L), Friday, 3 March 2006 14:58 (nineteen years ago)

a stencil someone painted on the south window of the bottle.

omg was it an hstencil?

sub-ken-c (jaymc), Friday, 3 March 2006 17:32 (nineteen years ago)

y'know i almost put "but not an hstencil" in parenthesis but i thought that would be a bit much. i don't think joel had anything to do with this one way or the other.
