The brands I've narrowed down:
LaCie Big Disk (reliability problems?)Maxtor (heard they suck)G-Drive or G-Raid (heard only good things, but they're kinda expensive.)
Please do my job for me.

DVI noise: I have my 2nd cinema display on an extension thus:
Mac - DVI male-male cable, I think 10ft - gender changer, GOLLLLD plated - DVI/ADC converter - ADC cable - cinema display.
The problem with this chain is that the darkest areas of the display flicker with bright green pixels. I'm thinking that this is what I get with DVI-D instead of the VGA analog, "ghosting", etc., when the cable connection is too long and the signal becomes too attenuated.
What's the best way to fix this problem w/o plugging the display directly into the Mac? I can't disconnect the ADC cable, which is built-in. I could get a shorter male-female DVI cable which might fix things, but it might not. Should I get a better ADC-DVI adapter?

The problem gets better after the display warms up, but never goes away completely. Also, it's a lot better with the upgrade graphics card than the original Mac Pro card.

Swapped the 10' with a 6', and it's better so far.
