"melton mowbray's APOCALYPTO!" is making me laugh a lot now though. Because I still can't believe Apocalypto exists. (I was telling someone about it yesterday and they said "what? that's what it's called? that's a title?" haha.)

It made me giggle the first time, but a quite surprisingly small number of times later it made my hair stand on end, which it still does.
I suspect I am not alone.

― Heave Ho, Sunday, 5 August 2007 12:29 (eighteen years ago)
and because apart from being a comical acknowledgement that you may be wrong it's also a laughable plea for appreciation/validation by others, typical of ppl joining internet forum threads, which is sad, amirite?

....which also sends the 'smug alert' off the dial.

It's taken you the best part of four weeks to decide you're offended enough by that fairly innocent post to ask for it to be deleted? I would happily do so if a) I believed you were actually offended and b) you promised never to say anything offensive about any other poster ever again. As neither of those things is going to happen I would request that you kindly stop posturing.

pretty sure that the first time I saw 'amirite' used was by dom, and from that day to this, I was under the impression that it was a bit of romance language slang for "friend of mine" where amiri="friend, love, dear" etc and te="of/to me" It is pronounced ah-MEER-ih-teh.
Moments ago I realized it is actually AM I RITE?
