Soy Products: C/D (Healthy or Not?)

My gf's mother claims to have heard something on the radio that said soy is bad for you. Google isn't much help -- finding some sites that address the issue but nothing very credible looking. Can anyone vouch one way or the other for this so-called miracle plant?
