Ooh, Raf Simons. But Smith v Lang, Lang by one million miles. My friend Florence spent her university grant on Lang in her first year of art school.

mmmmm, Paul Smith, lovely. Helmut Lang = too teutonic and efficient. I only have a few Paul Smith things but they are lovely, and my redundancy will partly go on one of his very nice suits (unfortunately it will probly have to be from the sale shop, but never mind.)

Every time I go in the Paul Smith shop it's all tacky shit but then I see the nice stuff in the magazines. Maybe it's because I go into Paul Smith Jeans.

Yes, Nick, that would be exactly why. Loved Paul Smith Women when it started but Lang I like because once you've bought something, they are forever clothes. And he commissions Jenny Holzer LEDs for his shop in NYC.

Why does he allow his name to be besmirched so? I fear going into the real shop cause people will point and stare and the prices in PS Jeans are bad enough. I may seek out the Selfridges concession before the sale finishes. I love Selfridges.

Me too, I've got some nice stuff from the R. Newbold stuff, including a long fleece coat with a massive hood, which I absolutely love.

There's this designer, not sure of his first name, but his surname is Byrite. He's goood.

Helmut Lang of course. He makes the puuurrrrfect suit. Paul Smith I dunno, too much of an English dandy who gives two shits that i look like a tosser sorta vibe. I mean great if you can get away with, but I'm afraid I would look like Crusty the Clown's cousin wearing his clothes.

i yearn for paul smith , i own a pair of jeans and a shirt i got in a habedasher in vancouver before they stopped carrying it , i may buy a suit in london.

anthony, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am not familiar with either of these people or their clothes.
