Chain E-Mails

You know those chain e-mails that say things like, "Forward this to five other people and a person will appear on the bridge."? Or "Forward this to ten people and you'll be very surprised to see what happens next!"?

Does anything happen? And if not, why do I keep getting these things from THE SAME PEOPLE?

Most of the ones that float around our office all the bloody time say things like "If you forward this to ten new people, something wonderful will happen! If you don't, your boyfriend will leave you and your dog will die."

I never forward any on, and my life hasn't got noticeably *worse* yet. Then again, it was pretty shit to begin with.

forward some on, for god's sake.

In my inbox this morning:

I hope you made your wish! Now then, if you send to:

1 person --- your wish will be granted in 1 year

3 people --- 6 months

5 people --- 3 months

6 people --- 1 month

7 people --- 2 weeks

8 people --- 1 week

9 people --- 5 days

10 people --- 3 days

12 people --- 2 days

15 people --- 1 day

20 people --- 3 hours

If you delete this after you read it... you will have 1 year of bad luck! But... if you send it 2 of your friends . you will automatically have 3 years of good luck!!! :-)

You didn't post the humorous clipart inserted throughout.

humorous clipart

One of the world's greatest oxymorons.

Surprisingly clipart free. This was the rest of it:

This may sound nuts, but Dennis got this the other
day and sent it off.

About 10 minutes later a really good financial
windfall happened for his son Sean who he had
sent it too as well.

One of the people he sent it to was responsible for
the windfall.

AN IRISH FRIENDSHIP WISH

You had better send this back!!!!

Good Luck!!

I hope it works...

May there always be work for your hands to do;

May your purse always hold a coin or two;

May the sun always shine on your windowpane;

May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain;

May the hand of a friend always be near you;

May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

OK, this is what you have to do.....

Send this to all of your friends! But - you HAVE to
send

this within 1 hour from when you open it!

Now................Make a wish!!!!!!

See, I'm aware of that stuff not working. But I had a picture of a bridge sent to me, and it said that if I forwarded it to five people, someone would appear on the bridge*. My question isn't so much about the likelihood of good luck coming my way, but about whether or not the picture is actually going to change.

*I'm guessing that it's going to be Jesus.

It's going to be all your friends appearing on the bridge. Giving you the finger for sending them STUPID FUCKING CHAIN EMAILS

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 16 March 2006 18:52 (twenty years ago)

I actually lost a friend to chain emails. She kept sending them to me, I kept ignoring them, then eventually I told her to stop sending them to me and she got so upset that she stopped talking to me altogether.

Okay, not a close friend...

Alright, alright, I may have used the word "vapid". I didn't think she would know what it meant.

Argh I hate getting sent chain emails/mega forwarded "funniez". I've ALWAYS already seen them somewhere else, the files are often HUGE powerpoint/avi files, and I delete them without ever reading them as I have no idea if they'd have a trojan anyway. I always get them from one or two of the same friends who I cant say cut it out to, as she'd get offended.

FWIW PP, there'd be no way sending an email thru 5 people would make anything appear. Think about it: how would that happen? Who is the 5th person? 5th from when? From when you got it? The original person? 3 people before you? etc etc.

To misquote Morbo:

"EMAIL DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY, GOOD NIGHT!".

dammit, stuffed the img up.

I just can't understand why someone would forward an e-mail in the hopes of seeing some magic picture appear when it hasn't appeared the last 700 times they forwarded it.

well it gotta work sometime, right? OTherwise why would their friend have forwarded it to them! DO U SEE?
