It looks as sweet as honey, but there's poison in its heart

maryann, Monday, 21 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

cherries have stones in their hearts: so perhaps it's conceptual art?

mark s, Monday, 21 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

friendship is the true cherry flavouring

maryann, Monday, 21 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

and where have you two been lately?

jess, Monday, 21 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was taking part in a government-funded scientific experiment to determine whether you can live on nothing but cherries and romance.

rainy, Monday, 21 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

and the findings?

jess, Monday, 21 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hi folks, :) About your artificial cherry flavoring.... I prefer to use almond flavoring which tastes like cherry! It is a clear liquid but if you have red food coloring, you can make some pretty cherry icing! MMMMM

Gale Deslongchamps, Monday, 21 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

findings were inconclusive, subjects were rendered too dreamy and spoiled too provide accurate data.

rainy, Monday, 21 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Wow, I want in on a study like that!

Ned Raggett, Monday, 21 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It's a lesser evil compared to artificial banana or grape flavor.

Brian MacDonald, Monday, 21 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

But when you taste those flavours, even if they are disgusting you can kind of taste that in some ways they are similar to the real thing. Artificial cherry flavoured things are in no way reminiscent of real cherries, except for the fact that they are usually red.

I don't understand how they can just go on using the same cherry flavour formula, when there is so much room for improvement.

rainy, Monday, 21 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Mmmm Cherry RC, where have you gone?

bnw, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Well, the issue with why artificial cherry flavoring tastes the way it does is because the flavor is usually not trying to simulate a real cherry but instead a particularly warped creation called a Maraschino Cherry.. which is really a cherry corpse (it's loving and sincere cherry soul mercilessly ripped apart and descimated) marinated in corn syrup and (probably artificial) almond flavoring -- which explains Gale's wise observation about substituting almond flavoring for "cherry".

Brian MacDonald, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

rainy, you will eat your bowl of charries, and the pits as well, artificial or not , its how to live!

mike hanle y, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

do artificial cherry flavored things make you fat?

Tadeusz Suchodolski, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

This thread has made me buy a can of Cherry Coke, you fools.

Pete, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ok, why doesn't anyone else point out that almond flavoring tastes nothing like cherries?

Ally, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was scared to.

N., Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

do artificial cherry flavored things make you fat?

Only if it's artifical cherry-flavored fat. On a stick. YUM!

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

PERVERT.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm scared of nothing but Anime and cows. Oh, goats too. Ooh, and I find the countryside a little freaky.

Ally, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

TERT

Mike Hanle y, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hush up, Shouty McShoutface.

Ally, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ok, why doesn't anyone else point out that almond flavoring tastes nothing like cherries?

Sadly, I never ate real cherries until well after I had plenty of artificial cherry flavor (mmmm, childhood sweets), so somehow my brain is wired to think that the latter is "cherry" flavored, even though that doesn't include cherries.

The first time I had an almond macaroon, I thought "mmmm, cherry".

My name is Brian and I am a Artifical Cherry Flavorholic.

Brian MacDonald, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Fake cherry flavoring is almost as good as maraschino cherries themselves. I always eat the cherries off the sundaes of picky people.
