Why has this not yet happened?

Its illegal and very hard to make money out of.

Pete, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Simon Bates doing a smutty Our Tune would be great.

Jonnie, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Why don't the Radio Authority lighten up? Channel 5 are allowed to peddle subscription-free soft porn, so why should late night radio be any different? I totally disagree that it would be hard to make money out of. Think how much money is made out of crappy 0891 numbers (or are most of them interactive one-on-one now?). Surely they'd have a captive audience of people lying in bed and fancying hearing some moaning and dirty talk. And the audience probably wouldn't compose themselves quickly enough to turn off the adverts. Anyway, the adverts could be porno too.

Pete's right, I fear. XfM's record-breaking fine for broadcasting a breakfast show based around the subject of bestiality has dissuaded others from following suit.

Trevor, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Does the Radio Authority even exist anymore, or has it been subsumed into some super broadcasting watchdog?

N., Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yes Jonnie but how would the inevitable tragedy happen then, "but....................it wasn't to be.....................................one night coming home from work, Stephen scratched their Grace Jones CD forever".

Ronan, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

N. this is a very good point. No doubt streaming stuff occurs on the UNLICENSED coo Modern Interweb but I would not possibly no as all radio is filtered out here chiz no crockradio for ME.

Those porn text messages look rubbidge. Although there are phone sex lines which advertise that they will get you off in 30 seconds which is a pretty tight deadline they are setting themselves so perhaps those type of people can also get off in 160 characters?

Sarah, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Don't ppl listen to the radio in their cars more than anywhere else? Imagine what kind of sentence they'd hand out to the guy who causes a huge pileup on the M1 'cos he'd been having a J. Arthur while listening to Filth FM?

Andrew L, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Radio Authority will become part of OFCOM. Don't know when.

jel, Tuesday, 22 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

a show on the campus radio station at my undergrad institution drew attention after one of its late night shows had a live broadcast of the hosts having sex in the station lounge or something like that.
