Pointless Bible Iraq chain email I received today (only 13 of you may read this)

Following is the entire email. I have no way of knowing if it's all true or not, except actual research (and I sure as hell ain't doing that!). I found it pretty interesting, but I'm not sure why the idiotic chain mail shit is there at the end:

1. The garden of Eden was in Iraq.

2. Mesopotamia, which is now Iraq, was the cradle of civilization!

3. Noah built the ark in Iraq.

4. The Tower of Babel was in Iraq.

5. Abraham was from Ur, which is in Southern Iraq!

6. Isaac's wife Rebekah is from Nahor, which is in Iraq !

7. Jacob met Rachel in Iraq.

8. Jonah preached in Nineveh - which is in Iraq.

9. Assyria, which is in Iraq, conquered the ten tribes of Israel.

10. Amos cried out in Iraq!

11. Babylon, which is in Iraq, destroyed Jerusalem.

12. Daniel was in the lion's den in Iraq!

13. The three Hebrew children were in the fire in Iraq (Jesus had been
in Iraq also as the fourth person in the fiery furnace!)

14. Belshazzar, the King of Babylon saw the "writing on the wall" in
Iraq.

15. Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, carried the Jews captive into Iraq.

16. Ezekiel preached in Iraq.

17. The wise men were from Iraq.

18. Peter preached in Iraq.

19. The "Empire of Man" described in Revelation is called Babylon,
which was a city in Iraq!

And you have probably seen this one. Israel is the nation most often
mentioned in the Bible. But do you know which nation is second? It is
Iraq! However, that is not the name that is used in the Bible. The
names used in the Bible are Babylon, Land ofShinar, and Mesopotamia.
The word Mesopotamia means between the two rivers, more exactly between
the Tigris and ! Euphrates Rivers. The name Iraq, means country with
deep roots.

Indeed Iraq is a country with deep roots and is a very significa nt
country in the Bible.

No other nation, except Israel, has more history and prophecy
associated with it than Iraq.

And also... This is something to think about! Since America is
typically represented by an eagle. Saddam should have read up on his
Muslim passages...

The following verse is from the Koran, (the Islamic Bible)

Koran (9:11) - For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a
fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the
lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair
still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of
Allah; and there was peace.

(Note the verse number!) Hmmmmmmm?! God Bless you all Amen !

I BETTER NOT HEA R OF ANYONE BREAKING THIS ONE OR SEE DELETED This is a
ribbon for soldiers fighting in Iraq. Pass it on to everyone and pray.
Something good will happen to you tonight at 11:11 PM This is not a
joke. Some one will either call you or will talk to you online and say
that they love you. Do not break this chain. Send this to 13 people in
the next 15 minutes. Go.

Superstitious Idiot, Wednesday, 29 March 2006 11:09 (twenty years ago)

A lot of it is true, with one big proviso: there was no such place as "Iraq" until the 20th century, when the Ottoman empire fell apart.

17 I'm not convinced about. 19 isn't exactly true: the Revelation says Babylon, but is generally assumed to have been talking about Rome, using "Babylon" as a metaphor for "evil pagan metropolis".

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Wednesday, 29 March 2006 11:18 (twenty years ago)

And, I should say, "true" in the sense of "the Bible says this happened", not "this did actually happen". The Tower of Babel, story, for example, was supposedly inspired by the sight of ruined Mesopotamian ziggurats. It didn't actually happen, though.

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Wednesday, 29 March 2006 11:19 (twenty years ago)

1. The garden of Eden was in Iraq.

I'm pretty sure there's no mention of it's location in the bible. As for Mesopotamia and Babylon, they were indeed located in the area where the current state of Iraq is, and it's quite logical that they're mentioned often in the Old Testament, what with them being the leading kingdoms of the era. I'm not sure if all those Bible references are true though. Also, obviously Iraq of today has little to do with the ancient cultures in that area, and it's borders (like most other in Middle East) were drawn by European colonialists that once occupied the area.

The Koran "quote" is absolut bullshit:

Those are the two numbers that make up 911 and their personalities are at opposite ends of the spectrum. The 9 as the Cornerstone of 911 tells me that the message is global and attempts to direct our attention to mankind as a whole, not just a single nation. It warns against fanaticism, and instead asks for tolerance and acceptance. It is not Islam that is at the core of the largest conflict facing us today, nor is it different political systems or other diversities. It is religious fanaticism, narrow-mindedness, and the cold heart of the zealot.

The number 1 appears in 911 twice, and it has a message very different from the 9. We are asked to honor and value the individual. No number pays homage to life the way the number 1 does; it gives full value to each and every human life; everyone counts.

Thomas Tallis (Tommy), Wednesday, 29 March 2006 14:27 (twenty years ago)

one is the loneliest number. when it appears next to a nine, and another one, that's 10 times lonelier. autopsies of terrorists brain tissue show them to be exactly ten times lonelier than the average american.

Saddam Hussein was born in the village of Al-Awja, 5 miles from the town of Tikrit in Iraq, to a family of shepherds. His mother, Subha Tulfah al-Mussallat, named her newborn son "Saddam," which in Arabic means "one who confronts." He never knew his father, Hussein 'Abd al-Majid, who died or disappeared five months before Saddam was born. Shortly afterwards, Saddam's twelve-year-old brother died of cancer, leaving his mother severely depressed in the final months of the pregnancy. Saddam's mother also tried to abort the baby by attempting suicide. The infant Saddam was sent to the family of his maternal uncle, Khairallah Talfah, until he was three.
Following family tradition, he attended prep school in New England, at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, the same school his father attended. Bush then enrolled at Yale University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 1968. As a senior, Bush was a member of the secretive Skull and Bones society, as was his father. In May 1968, at the height of the Vietnam War, he entered the Texas Air National Guard. He trained in the guard for two years, where he was among the last to learn to fly the F-102, a plane not used in Vietnam and due to be retired. Bush was promoted to First Lieutenant in November 1970 on the recommendation of his commander Lt. Col. Jerry B. Killian. He served as an F-102 pilot until 1972.
