Coffee in London

I am meeting someone for a coffee on Monday evening. Not really being a coffee drinker normally after late afternoon I am at a loss as to where to go.

Could any of you kind ilxors suggest somewhere in Central London?

It doesn't have to be somewhere with amazing coffee but a cool place to hang out would definitely be appreciated. I was looking for example at Tate Modern but that closes at 6.

ray's jazz cafe at foyles - i think they're open until 8 or maybe 9? does anyone know? very good coffee, anyway. the downside is that they seem to have no loos now, so i end up using the ones in borders over the road if i go there.

Where have the loos gone? Well that's OK, it's one of my fav. coffee places in central london. Always full of ok people as well. And of course great jazz sounds drifting across from the shop.

That and the cafe ubder St Martin's (?) in Traf. Square - although maybe that's more of a tea place?

Also St Martins is open till 8 on a monday.

old compton street = full of nice coffee shops, some open later than others, some more crowded than others -- most of them have cake as well as coffee

the capucetto used to have the rudest waitress in london also, but i haven't been there for many years
