I can't figure it out, I pushed it into the PCI slot, reboot computer, computer says it's removable disk E. I plug in the digital video camera....nothing. I've never done this before (installed a card) and I can't get to the bottom of it via google. Anyone have any ideas? I'd very much appreciate it.

right click on My Computer, choose Manange, select device manager

in the list that comes up does anything have a yellow question mark next to it?

Ed (dali), Monday, 3 April 2006 11:17 (twenty years ago)

Also, what software are you using to connect to the camera?

Ed (dali), Monday, 3 April 2006 11:19 (twenty years ago)

I'm using premiere.

SM Bus controller has not only a yellow question mark but an exclamation mark on top of it.

Not sure if that is the problem, Windows normally doesn't require a driver other than the built in one. No disks with the 1394 card I presume? Who made it?

Ed (dali), Monday, 3 April 2006 11:27 (twenty years ago)

Kouwell, some korean company.

It was apparently plug and play but that doesn't seem to be the case, so no, no disk.

Do you think I need to go find the driver and manually install it?

Your camera won't appear as a disk, you have to use the capture tool in Premiere.

Ed (dali), Monday, 3 April 2006 11:37 (twenty years ago)

yeah i know, but it won't do that either. It says the camera is offline.

Oh btw, I took it out and put it in another slot. Fixed part of the problem but now I think I have a device conflict, so uh...I guess I'm on my own. Thanks anyway Ed, I appreciate the effort you've made.

pleasure

I hate IRQs. See if you can shunt something less importnat off the IRQ it wants to use.
