yay!

electric sound of jim (and why not) (electricsound), Thursday, 6 April 2006 04:23 (twenty years ago)

No, it is BOOZE which makes women fatter, BOOZE which we drink by the bucketload coping with our new live-in men ;)

*flees from thread rapidly*

Trayce is not a guy! (trayce), Thursday, 6 April 2006 04:36 (twenty years ago)

no that's what happened to me stuck living with an ex for four months

electric sound of jim (and why not) (electricsound), Thursday, 6 April 2006 04:36 (twenty years ago)

Bullshit, I get fatter when I move in with girls, 'cause they can cook, yo.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 6 April 2006 04:37 (twenty years ago)

fat n' happy

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 6 April 2006 04:38 (twenty years ago)

Haha tell that to my bf, who seems to be getting thinner by the day no matter how much I feed him :/

Trayce is not a guy! (trayce), Thursday, 6 April 2006 04:38 (twenty years ago)

worms

electric sound of jim (and why not) (electricsound), Thursday, 6 April 2006 04:40 (twenty years ago)

Heh.

Trayce is not a guy! (trayce), Thursday, 6 April 2006 04:49 (twenty years ago)

For a moment there I was going to say "no, he plays Zelda more than Worms".

Trayce is not a guy! (trayce), Thursday, 6 April 2006 04:50 (twenty years ago)

I have friends that can vouch for this trend!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 6 April 2006 05:35 (twenty years ago)

*hides beer belly under table in shame*

Trayce is not a guy! (trayce), Thursday, 6 April 2006 05:49 (twenty years ago)

Slouching like that's not going to help! ;)

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 6 April 2006 05:50 (twenty years ago)

Oh yes - easily the adult equivalent of the Freshman Fifteen (which I never even gained at the time) because of the booze with takeaways option couples will fall into.

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 6 April 2006 06:03 (twenty years ago)

ahh my favourite option

electric sound of jim (and why not) (electricsound), Thursday, 6 April 2006 06:10 (twenty years ago)

Given all the comments in the story about Australians I am increasingly less surprised at the turn this thread has taken. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 6 April 2006 06:12 (twenty years ago)

i never put on weight when i co-habited. except when i gave up smoking. but then i lost those kilos anyway.

gem (trisk), Thursday, 6 April 2006 06:22 (twenty years ago)

i think i made pretty much all my girlfriends fatter, but i didn't cohabit with most of them

electric sound of jim (and why not) (electricsound), Thursday, 6 April 2006 06:58 (twenty years ago)

what has co habiting got to do with this? how is this trend different for married couples?

ambrose (ambrose), Thursday, 6 April 2006 07:42 (twenty years ago)

I can vouch for this story too.

Konal Doddz (blueski), Thursday, 6 April 2006 07:47 (twenty years ago)

what about the idea of "Now that I am off the marekt, I shall let myself go. Thighs: expandeth thee!!"

Mr Jones (Mr Jones), Thursday, 6 April 2006 08:01 (twenty years ago)

Yes... men in bad for women in a million different ways shocker!

Where's my merlot gone?

Treacle in a Flaming Wheelbarrow (kate), Thursday, 6 April 2006 08:10 (twenty years ago)

What happens when men cohabit with men?

DV (dirtyvicar), Thursday, 6 April 2006 09:07 (twenty years ago)

The goat-like aroma becomes almost unbearable.

Treacle in a Flaming Wheelbarrow (kate), Thursday, 6 April 2006 09:10 (twenty years ago)

Mmmm, goats.

DV (dirtyvicar), Thursday, 6 April 2006 09:21 (twenty years ago)

Dear me, DV.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 6 April 2006 11:35 (twenty years ago)

Co-habiting makes men fatter as well if I'm anything to go by.

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Thursday, 6 April 2006 12:23 (twenty years ago)

Look I'd love to say that I have fattened up my man with my wholesome cooking but even tho I do that, he remains a DDR rake and I expand by the day, so something's fuckin going wrong here.

Trayce is not a guy! (trayce), Thursday, 6 April 2006 12:24 (twenty years ago)

I blame Castlevania and Zelda on the Nintendo DS.

Trayce is not a guy! (trayce), Thursday, 6 April 2006 12:25 (twenty years ago)

fat n' happy
no such thing!

not-goodwin (not-goodwin), Thursday, 6 April 2006 12:27 (twenty years ago)

Fuck that!!! Fat n' happy is aiight. And yes - the booze and carry-out (or take away, if you will) is a MAJOR reason why this happens.

Big Loud Mountain Ape (Big Loud Mountain Ape), Thursday, 6 April 2006 12:34 (twenty years ago)

my girlfriend has steadily increased weight since she's been eating my hearty home cooking. i've dropped weight since previous to our living together my meals were along the lines of cheese and beer.

AaronK (AaronK), Thursday, 6 April 2006 13:51 (twenty years ago)

I'm going to steal that recipe.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 6 April 2006 17:28 (twenty years ago)

it made me gain 20 pounds in a couple months time.

AaronK (AaronK), Thursday, 6 April 2006 17:31 (twenty years ago)

I think I am living testament that this article speaks the truth. Gained 5 dress sizes in 5 years. Increase can be pinpointed to when I moved in with junk food loving, demanding husband.

This cunted circus never ends... (papa november), Thursday, 6 April 2006 21:32 (twenty years ago)

Hmmm, this seems odd to me -- I think if I lived with someone, I'd be more inclined to make healthy meals with my partner instead of just grabbing something quick and greasy whenever I don't feel like cooking for myself.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 6 April 2006 21:41 (twenty years ago)

i eat way way way healthier since i've lived with my wife...

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 6 April 2006 21:43 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, see you're both male.

This cunted circus never ends... (papa november), Thursday, 6 April 2006 21:54 (twenty years ago)

This happened to me: I eat better living with someone, ie lovely home cooked meals and deserts because it is so nice to share good food. Whereas by myself I would probably have more takeaways but also be more puritanical and think "maybe just an apple".

isadora (isadora), Thursday, 6 April 2006 21:59 (twenty years ago)

i definitely ate better during my last co-habitation. it was all the booze that did me in.

electric sound of jim (and why not) (electricsound), Thursday, 6 April 2006 22:05 (twenty years ago)

this didn't happen to me. when i cohabited with a guy for two years i just stayed the same size. my weight fluctuates 4kg depending on the season anyway.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 6 April 2006 22:10 (twenty years ago)

Well I mean, I certainly don't blame him entirely or even at all. I choose what goes in my mouth, but I agree with the article, there is def some kind of correlation.

This cunted circus never ends... (papa november), Thursday, 6 April 2006 22:15 (twenty years ago)

Here I thought it only made them look fatter.

Aimless (Aimless), Thursday, 6 April 2006 22:22 (twenty years ago)

I put on almost a stone and a half within 2 years of living with Chris. It's both booze and food - I'd hardly drink during the week when I was on my own, but we'd often sit down to a meal and polish off a bottle of wine between us several nights during a week. Portion size went up too - Chris did most of the cooking, with no portion control and he would dish up 50-50, and much as I like equality, applying that to portions was just crazy.
