BIll Kristol?

This guy confuses me. Can we do some sort of psychological profiling on him?

He's a neocon who seems like a nice guy. He has sort of a stonerish grin.

What's his deal? Is he just trying to please his father?

I saw Brian Lamb barking questions at him on cspan last night. He was sitting straight upright on the edge of his seat and clenching and unclenching his fists. At the same time he seemed somewhat at ease. It was weird. He was kind of vulnerable and sweet.

Here is a video of him getting a pie to the face. Apparently he was a pretty good sport about it.

James Wolcott loves to make fun of his Cheshire Cat grin:

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Monday, 10 April 2006 12:51 (twenty years ago)

yeah but isn't his grin totally likable? and what business does one of the ideological fathers of the iraq war have being likable?

something does not add up!

jhoshea (scoopsnoodle), Monday, 10 April 2006 12:54 (twenty years ago)

It's sheepish and almost apologetic actually.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Monday, 10 April 2006 12:57 (twenty years ago)

And Paul Wolfowitz is pretty "likable" too.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Monday, 10 April 2006 12:57 (twenty years ago)

i've heard this about wolfowitz. i think he's creepy.

Wolfowitz giggled and held back. “Oh! That’s my trusty comb back there.”

He slipped his hands in his back pocket revealing the comb. It was long and some of the teeth were missing. Wolfowitz stared into Rumsfeld’s eyes, which brightened with curiosity. “Do...you.....want it?” Wolfowitz paused.

Rumsfeld grinned and slowly slipped the comb in his fingers. Wolfowitz felt overwhelmed, leading them to kiss once again.

Oblivious to everything else, they continued kissing until they collapsed off the sofa, down to the floor, nearly tossing the coffee table over.

When they parted again, Rumsfeld gazed at Wolfowitz from the floor and feverishly searched for the comb which dropped. Rumsfeld placed the comb in his mouth and began unbuttoning Wolfowitz’s shirt. Noble and eager, Wolfowitz let him do so. He licked the side of Rumsfeld’s cheek while he was undoing the remaining garments. After Wolfowitz was nude, Rumsfeld slid behind him.

Along with such a hungry moan, Wolfowitz whispered, “The comb, Mr. Rumsfeld...use the comb.” Rumsfeld grabbed Wolfowitz from behind and went right to it, slipping the comb slowly inside him and out. Wolfowitz hissed and whimpered in rhythm.

Hmmm, and I thought Calvin and Hobbes getting it on was the end-point of sanity.

Joke'll be on him.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 30 December 2007 20:53 (eighteen years ago)

i don't get the uproar over this at all. all their columnists are garbage.

artdamages, Sunday, 30 December 2007 21:05 (eighteen years ago)

then again...from politico:

“The idea that The New York Times is giving voice to a guy who is a serious, respected conservative intellectual — and somehow that’s a bad thing,” Rosenthal added. “How intolerant is that?”

on one level i agree w/what he is saying. the sad part is that bill kristol IS a serious, respected conservative intellectual. so are friedman and brooks! this is the world we live in.

artdamages, Sunday, 30 December 2007 21:09 (eighteen years ago)

nyt and wp are both whoring their editorial pages out to whomever in the desperate hopes that they can keep printing for another ten years

El Tomboto, Sunday, 30 December 2007 21:35 (eighteen years ago)

at least that's the only explanation I can come up with

El Tomboto, Sunday, 30 December 2007 21:35 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, it is pathetic and thats why it doesn't hurt my feelings. establishment bozos (er, bobos?) on the right and left only appeal to themselves. nyt in elitism shocker. they actually believe that kristol is there to offer opposing views. etc.

i guess sulzberger likes people who get where they were because of their dads?

gabbneb, Sunday, 30 December 2007 21:59 (eighteen years ago)

I sometimes feel a twinge of guilt for knowing how smug and self-satisfied I'm going to feel when they all go right the fuck out of business

El Tomboto, Sunday, 30 December 2007 21:59 (eighteen years ago)

if they go in the shitter someone will buy them for the name.

artdamages, Sunday, 30 December 2007 22:25 (eighteen years ago)

m coleman, Sunday, 30 December 2007 22:56 (eighteen years ago)

No, David Brooks will now fill the token liberal slot.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Sunday, 30 December 2007 22:58 (eighteen years ago)

I imagine Cohen is the warmup act? if they get rid of Kristof, I advocate revolution.

Kristol needs to be hit with a brick.

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 03:01 (seventeen years ago)

he needs to wear a clown costume whenever he appears on tv
