Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 24 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

This looks a load of hippie rubbish. Where's Kevin Toms when you need him?

Tom, Thursday, 24 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You bought a Myst game and you're boasting?

DG, Thursday, 24 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Not a Tolkien fan per se but drools over Myst sequels. FIEND. *slumps in corner and cries*

I still have never played the original all the way through, y'know. This is in part because I never owned it.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 24 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Riven is one of the best things i've ever experienced via computing machinery. and i've played 3d monster maze too, so suck it up.

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 24 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It all looks like bunkum to me.

Jonnie, Thursday, 24 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

naaah, Bunkum uses far more live footage and is far less, point and click.

chris, Thursday, 24 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Myst and its sequels are rubbish! Illogical puzzles, no character interaction and not a single thing to shoot, maim, or injure. Where's the fun in that, I ask you?!

Paul Strange, Thursday, 24 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

myst had illogical puzzles i grant. riven was a different kettle of prawns. i have nealy finished quake 2 and am all out of shooting stuff. character interaction, HA! graphic adventure = little character interaction, FACT. only MODERN text games have the good character interaction.

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 24 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

only MODERN text games have the good character interaction.

And the Black Isle/Interplay roleplaying games: Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II, Planescape: Torment, mmmmm...

Dan Perry, Thursday, 24 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"Realistic" character interacton and development in a one-player game is for suXoRs.

Tom, Thursday, 24 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Dudes, those are all bunkums. Play "Phantasmagoria" and get a taste of 1997 fashion!

Mandee, Thursday, 24 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Have you played Planescape: Torment, Tom? That's probably the best- scripted game I've ever played; everyone's reactions to you vary depending on your alignment, class, and stats. It's wild; playing as a smart character gives a vastly different experience from playing as a dumb character.

Dan Perry, Thursday, 24 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

this is what you really want

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 24 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I bought my dad Exile last year...what made you decide to buy it now? Was it super cheap? I'll admit the interface and graphics are beautiful, much easier to use and better for those with little patience. I thought the storyline was like the others, and had a tendency to yell at the stupidity of some of the characters...but hey, you gotta win the game somehow, right? It's wonderful, though sometimes obscure, and though it's easier and funner to use...it gave me motion sickness sometimes. Word of advice - don't move the mouse around too much...yes...made me feel sick. Anyhoo, congrats on buying it and have fun with it...it's better than Riven in my opinion.

kimera, Thursday, 24 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Planescape Torment = Best Storyline in a game ever. Wow.

Paul Strange, Friday, 25 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Do any of you have the Gameboy Advance? Are there any good games other than Mario Kart which is obviously the best computer game ever.

Ronan, Friday, 25 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

get the spectrum emulator for gameboy advance! though that site is not working too well at the mo.

Alan Trewartha, Friday, 25 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I completely agree with Paul. Best NPCs (except maybe Minsc and Viconia from Baldur's Gate), best storyline, best implementation of class-switching, best immersion technique... That game is ROCK.

Dan Perry, Friday, 25 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I thought this was gonna be about the Stones.

Sean, Friday, 25 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Baldur's Gate roolz my world. Get yer geek on.
