Los Angeles Temp Agencies - RFI, S/D

I am going to be moving to the Pasadena area in about a month and a half. I will have a JD at that point, but no job. Does anyone know of any temp agencies/headhunters in the LA area, specifically in the legal field? Google searches have not yielded too many positive results.

I greatly appreciate any and all assistance.

if you were talking office work, I'd have you covered as far as Pasadena is concerned:
s: Stivers, Thomas Staffing(did right by me, I guess)
d: Appleone, Manpower, Excel(that probably goes for the whole country, they're all huge and they're all meat markets)

all these places might also have legal placement, I'm not sure.

Thanks a ton, man. It will be an office work placement - preferably in a law firm of some sort.

What is the best way to get in touch with them? Phone, email or both?

phone is best; I haven't worked temp in about 7 years but I don't think that would change. Some of these agencies are on Monster too, they don't always respond but I would troll them and send resumes out as a backup.
Be clear about what placement you want, but not too firm(they really do get spooked by a candidate who's 'overqualified' ie. ready and able to bolt them at the first opportunity). If you're lucky you'll get a rep who's honest about the expectations and won't string you along, but whatever you do, bug them until you get placement. If they say call once a week to check in, call every 2-3 days. If they say call every day, call every day. I don't know enough about the legal field to get more specific than that. Are you a paralegal?

I was for a while, but am about to graduate from law school and will need a job between taking and getting my results from the bar exam.

Thanks for the heads-up. I really appricate the info.

I just started a three-week assignment with Remedy today. They seemed alright with the fact that I needed a few hours off on Wednesday to go and interview for a real job. The only other agency I have gotten a job through was Appleone. Destroy, unless you enjoy places that have stupid framed motivational posters all over.

Well, that's not the only reason they suck, but those posters are not helping them either.

one year passes...

So, I owe it to myself to at least try and find some work for the month of August until school starts and I guess this is the best option. I will probably try downtown and Pasadena. Any further recommendations? I've used agencies in London and SF that tend to staff non-profits, is there anything like that in Los Angeles?
