They've actually added new ranges in the past few months, elevated to "iconic" status now appear to be Paul Weller, Morrissey, Rod Stewart, and Pele, alongisde the traditional stand-bys of The Beatles, Muhammed Ali, Debbie Harry, and James Dean.

a) Are these things just for freshers who think that a picture of Audrey Hepburn qualifies them to be some sort of debonaire sophisticate of the computer sciences block?
b) How do you qualify to be on these things? I was wondering how Tupac hadn't made it onto the list yet, and where on earth is Pele a more iconic figure than Maradona or Best?

There's also the aggressively coloured paintings of such celebrities available to the icon appreciator who feels his apartment (surely only a guy) deserves something with a little more gravitas than a poster. A friend of mine's dad has made a tidy sum of money selling his paintings of George Best in the last few months. At least the devastated Best mourners of Cheadle Hulme can now tearfully look up at George in happier, pre-dead days, and find solace in his neon grin. When's the last time a DFA remix helped the bereaved volk like that?
