Resist the urge to buy another one.

this just happened to me in an airport. i think it has something to do with the xrays. i fixed it by holding down the middle button and the menu button simultaneously for FIVE SECONDS. or let the battery run dead and recharge it

turn the hold on and off at the top, wait a sec, then hold down the menu and the select buttons for about ten seconds (on the new one) or the menu and the play button on the old one.

Give it to a third world person who is deprived of capitalist consumer electronic goods.

I just bought one of them cd players that plays mp3 cd's. Its great! I twas only 30$ but it is like having an ipod. Sure its bulky, but THINK OF THE SAVINGS!!!

Mr Jones (Mr Jones), Thursday, 20 April 2006 02:59 (twenty years ago)

oh those are great! i still use mine, it's great to grab an unlabled mp3 cd of, say, 200 songs that you don't remember making and be transported back to your musical tastes of one year ago. Also THEY TAKE AA BATTERIES (Ipod's biggest failing!)

I've got a wire going from the headphone jack of my computer to the "line-in" jack on my boombox. I've even timed both sides of the tape I use at 46:20, so I get no dead time.

There's a buzz in the works somewhere, but I've adjusted the EQs to cover it.

I've actually been using the same set up to make tapes of new albums from mp3s, to take out and about on my walkman. simply because i'll be more likely to actually Listen to them that way. I've been spoiled rotton by my ipod and trying to listen to brand new stuff on it is pointless as i'll just be all "i don't know this song, but there are thousands on here that i do know *shuffle skip*"

When you are at home, listen to music via vinyl records, compact discs or audio cassette. Listen to a few select albums or pieces several times. Then, when you are on the move, remember the music you have been spending time listening to (which will be easier if you have made sure to listen to a small group of pieces more than once). You will find this activity pleasurable, and it will sustain you throughout your journey.

Apple's usually pretty phenomenal about replacing dud units. I've lost (no kidding) 3 different iPods over the past 2 years to various undiagnosable technical defects, and every time, Apple has replaced them completely free of charge -- however, this only works if the iPod is in warranty (1 year). Last year, I actually got upgraded to the 60GB color iPod because my 40GB b/w iPod was no longer in production.

I mean, I'd complain about the fact that they only seem to last me six months a pop (this one's on like eight right now) but with this kid of customer service, who gives a damn? Tell me that Best Buy or Sony would replace your Discman for free if it crapped out.

Warranty = One year
Battery Life = 18 months

Pretty foxy, Apple...
