21/7 Picnic In The Sky HERE WE COME

I've sent directions etc. to everyone who RSVP'd in the affirmative. If for some bizarre reason you didn't get mail, post here and I will rectify that.

Ed hasn't notified me about whether he can actually get here so if ANYONE has a blender VOLUNTEER IT NOW. Just so the White Russian Milkshake massive is not disappointed, yo. Otherwise everything looks okey-dokey.

If there's rain the numbers suggest everyone can get mashed in my flat. It's big enough and those with cameras will see that red walls = everyone is photogenic. Also I tend to operate on the British weather model, ie. if you do not like the current weather, wait 30 minutes for TOTALLY NEW CONDITIONS.

If there is anything I am forgetting please post. Otherwise, looking forward to seeing all of you on Saturday from noon onwards!

Any questions?

suzy, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

how can intelligent humans achieve happiness in a hypermediated and hypersexualised environment which shows every sign of worsening?

Nick, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm sure if they go to the Picnic In The Sky they will find happiness.

Pete, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Is that a promise or a threat?

masonic boom, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think by not looking at happiness as an ACHIEVEMENT in the first place is the best way to meet the pressure Nick described.

suzy, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Does this mean the picnic will or won't be "hypermediated and hypersexualised"? Not that I'm that bothered either way, I'm sure it will bring happiness. Or at least somewhere to recover after karaoke night.

Its now looking 80/20 on me coming, only a complete disaster with the car will prevent me.

This is the last chance for requests from Italy (or possibly france) I could pick up a couple of crates of some form of beer and flog it to you all, any requests. I've got prosecco and salami and will hopefully have achived the ingredients for vodka mojitos.

Ed, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ed, a big £5 chunk of Parmesan would be lovely, will pay you back. It's just so much nicer than even the stuff at the Clerkenwell Italian shops and when I have some, it's a valid food group.

suzy, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

done deal 1kg=£6

when do the meters finish round yours on saturdays? cos I might drive the stuff over and dump the car there till sunday.

Ed, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm really not sure. My place is in borough of Camden which might be 1.30 Saturday finish and the bastards are very 'on it' when it comes to ticketing. I will have a look, I'm on my way to the launderette so can check.

suzy, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Will bring food made by me + drink made by enormous GM techno-consumable combine; possibly also friend w.small well- behaved if daft dog (but they are finishing an essay, and have promised nothing). Also book abt eating bugs (obviously) and book abt Satan to lend Kate.

Result! Ed I will ask the caretaker to open the gate so you can park up without incurring meter-creep paranoia. Just drive in via Mount Pleasant and pull in opposite Panther House.

suzy, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hey everyone! I just had a great idea! Let's all come as characters from Ally McBeal!

Tom, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

great, I'll pick up a few boxes of moretti or something (special on moretti at the local supermarket 50p for a 660ml bottle) People can either buy bottles or make a contribution or something.

Ed, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm out of communications range till saturday morning. See you all there.

Ed, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Tom Ewing is an EVIL MAN. This is why we love him so.

Dan Perry, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I will come as the Dancing Baby, if we go for that option...

Paul Strange, Thursday, 19 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Thomas, taste my whip, OK? Everyone would think I was Calista but with black hair (I've just been called too skinny by THE EDITOR OF A FASHION MAGAZINE) so please come as yourselves.

suzy, Thursday, 19 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

suzy, count me in please. my messages on ILE are so infrequent that i can barely claim any right to attend, but as i was chastised by an ILE regular recently for my failure to socialise since moving to london, this seems the perfect opportunity to do something about it.

kevan, Thursday, 19 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Is it too late? My life is chaotic having no fixed abode and all. E- mail directions if it isn't (too late that is)

tarden, Friday, 20 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Are you guys SURE you don't want to go and see Go West instead?

the pinefox, Friday, 20 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Grrrrrrr....

suzy, Friday, 20 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

??? It's not that I don't want to go to the Picnic thingy. In some ways, the picnic thingy is probably the Event of the Year. It's just that I have to go and see Go West. I mean - when did Go West last play live? This is a big deal for me.

I know that everyone at the picnic thingy will have a wonderful time and stuff. Play a Lloyd record for me.

the pinefox, Friday, 20 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am about to begin cleaning flat and hiding embarrassing/breakable personal effects (after the sofa mong for Brookie and BB). Anyone who wants anything from the store, log on and drop your requests to me here!
