Spotted today on Kentish Town Road: flyposters in the style of the 'Nevah mind the bolloXor' front cover, but saying: "NEVER MIND THE EURO, WHERE'S OUR TRAINS?". I've asked around the office, but no one can figure out what kind of group might be responsible - anarchist? "real" socialist? keep the pound? Our suspicion is some kind of right wing group - but why would they choose to use Jamie Reid-style graffiXoR? What kind of irony is at play here? Does anyone know?

If it turns out to be promoting some nu fake-punkah pop group I will be sooooo disappointed.

I assumed it was the SWP, who are anti-Europe but pro-nationalisation IIRC.

I suspect they may be of a certain age..

God those are annoying. They were up before Christmas, outside 119 Farringdon Road with 'Hospitals' in place of 'Trains' and my friend was so pissed off at the crassness of the slogan that he tore one down. The new ones appeared the day before a group of anti-euro Labour MPs wrote a letter to the Guardian calling for public services to be given priority over euro-entry talk so I decided it was probably them. See here and here.

There were actually 28 MPs that signed it. The crappy GU archive cuts the list off at H.

N.B. It's not that my friend and I are esp. pro-euro. It's just that anyone using 'Never mind the bollocks' variants in slogans should be shot for crimes against imagination.
