Yes I've seen several of these stings on tv lately. Can't believe these would-be predators aren't more careful. The last DAteline one I saw, more than one guy said that he seen previous stings on Dateline. Morans.

Perverted Justice is a real organization and is the most well-known. They've been doing this for quite awhile.

In the Dateline stings (I believe there have been 4 so far), the PJ volunteers were deputized by the police so the suspects could be arrested based on the chats they engaged in.

On the PJ web site they post chat transcripts, home addresses and phone info for the pervs. The goal is to try and publicly out/humilate/embarrass/convict them.

There was one guy who was outed or whatever in NoVa and not only had he seen these things before, HE GOT CAUGHT BY THE SAME PPL TWICE. He didn't even change his screen name. One time he came to the "teenage girl's" house and got accosted by whatever his name is, John Stossel or whoever, and then the second time the "teenage girl" asked him to meet at McD's or some similar establishment and, again, accosted by John Stossel. I think that'd be funny, just keep targeting this one dude and having random MSNBC reporters harrass him every time he leaves his house. But seriously how dumb can you be? There wasn't like a year in between incidents or some other length of time where you'd be like, "Well, guess he gave up trying to go straight and narrow," it was like a week later.
