At this point the man should have his own "ROLLING TOM CRUISE SILLYASSERY" thread

Cunga (Cunga), Saturday, 6 May 2006 03:15 (nineteen years ago)

That was just as painful to watch as that interview he did last year with Sway on MTV promoting War Of The Worlds.

van igloo (van smack), Saturday, 6 May 2006 03:37 (nineteen years ago)

you want to look away, but...

scott seward (scott seward), Saturday, 6 May 2006 03:41 (nineteen years ago)

That was just as painful to watch as that interview he did last year with Sway on MTV promoting War Of The Worlds.

I remember Sway asking Cruise what movies he'd seen recently, he answered "Hitch" and whatever the XXX sequel starring Ice Cube was titled. Cruise was wierdly enthusiastic about both films and determined to work with Will Smith in the future.
But overall I was more amused by Sway's relentless and creative interviewing kiss-assery.

theodore (herbert hebert), Saturday, 6 May 2006 04:12 (nineteen years ago)

Maybe he's not gay after all, et al.

Eric H. (Eric H.), Saturday, 6 May 2006 04:14 (nineteen years ago)

No, look at the dance he's doing. HE'S RIDING A MOTORCYCLE. HE BAD.

Man Man (kenan), Saturday, 6 May 2006 04:19 (nineteen years ago)

what a funny little man

Mr Jones (Mr Jones), Saturday, 6 May 2006 08:17 (nineteen years ago)

He's on a planet all on his own. Sadly there's not enough oxygen to keep his brain functioning at a normal pace.

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Saturday, 6 May 2006 11:18 (nineteen years ago)

He looks like a politician.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 6 May 2006 11:21 (nineteen years ago)

will he ever stop this?

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 6 May 2006 12:27 (nineteen years ago)

Sure hope not. It makes my 'broke nobody' status somehow reassuring.

dr lulu (dr lulu), Saturday, 6 May 2006 12:46 (nineteen years ago)

I think the cameraman was onto something with that tight shot of shoes not moving.

dude, that was the only good thing.

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Saturday, 6 May 2006 15:11 (nineteen years ago)

The Tom Cruise "I'm not gay! Really!" Tour. First stop: Tom tells black people: "Hey look, I'm not gay!" But only convinces a few.

the woman in the purple dress is mortified the rest and covering their mortification by joining in.

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 6 May 2006 18:47 (nineteen years ago)

But overall I was more amused by Sway's relentless and creative interviewing kiss-assery.

I just the new Diary Of Tom Cruise And Sway on MTV for M-I:3. He takes Sway on a plane ride and a motorcycle ride. Take a drink every time Sway says "Tom Cruise" with a sense of joyful disbelief.

Zwan (miccio), Saturday, 6 May 2006 18:48 (nineteen years ago)

And it actually IS Diary Of Tom Cruise And Sway. Tom shares the bill, though he repeated tells us "you think you know, but you don't."

Zwan (miccio), Saturday, 6 May 2006 18:49 (nineteen years ago)

The woman in the purple dress is Michelle Monaghan, who lives in that weird starlet world where she's a 'name' without ever having a movie anyone remembers.

According to IMDB she was Kim in The Bourne Supremacy and I guess she must have been an extra in the CIA scenes or something.

milo z (mlp), Saturday, 6 May 2006 19:04 (nineteen years ago)

She was in "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" and I TOLLY remember her.

Rickey Wright (Rrrickey), Saturday, 6 May 2006 21:18 (nineteen years ago)

And the movie, obv.

Rickey Wright (Rrrickey), Saturday, 6 May 2006 21:18 (nineteen years ago)

vince carter does that motorcycle dance all the time.

people think he's gay too.

jhoshea (scoopsnoodle), Saturday, 6 May 2006 21:34 (nineteen years ago)

In defense of Tom (a practical, rather than political defense): What the fuck else could you do in that situation? Stand there like a statue? Bust out something weirder? All he could do was a vague sort of hip hop dance, and (maybe cos we couldn't see his eyes) he didn't seem too odd. Imagine Jack Nicholson or Bill Clinton in the same situation. It's a no-win.

paulhw (paulhw), Saturday, 6 May 2006 22:18 (nineteen years ago)

Bust out something weirder?

yes.

Man Man (kenan), Saturday, 6 May 2006 22:48 (nineteen years ago)

Yes, he the guy is INSANE but this was sorta out of his control. They asked him to do the dance and it's not like he could say no.
I'm sure there's more than a couple of people in this thread who would have done just as bad as him!

Lovelace (Lovelace), Saturday, 6 May 2006 22:55 (nineteen years ago)

Tom won't have any recollection of this dance. It'll all be in the "clear"

van igloo (van smack), Saturday, 6 May 2006 23:01 (nineteen years ago)

Scientology jokes and gossip are rapidly becoming more of a dud than Cruise himself.

milo z (mlp), Saturday, 6 May 2006 23:07 (nineteen years ago)

it makes me think of a post-optimo party where everyone started clapping rhythmically and telling me to do a dance so i started breakdancing. i can't breakdance and i wasn't sure whether everyone was aware of the fact that i knew i couldn't. i think i just looked like a lunatic.

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 6 May 2006 23:19 (nineteen years ago)

I was waiting in line for a show at the 40 Watt Club in Atlanta with this guy I used to date. I think we were going to see Jets to Brazil or something similar. Anyway, the guy I was dating, out of the blue, starts wielding an invisible light saber and engaging in a ferocious battle that ranged across a half block with an invisible opponent, complete with very loud sound effects and dialog and very elaborate choreography while all around me, emo Atlantans stared and judged and I tried to smile and act like it was totally socially appropriate to spontaneously act out large chunks of Star Wars battles while inside I was praying that he would stop or get hit by lightning or fall in love with someone else and never speak to me.

I will bet that is just how Katie Holmes felt while watching this clip of Tom Cruise.

Safety First (pullapartgirl), Saturday, 6 May 2006 23:28 (nineteen years ago)

anyone else seen Mission: Impossible 3 yet? the macguffin the plot revolves around is the macguffinest macguffin in the history of macguffins.

I think he may have some form of personality disorder or something, like Narcissistic Personality disorder - he can't accept anyone's criticisms and seems to think he is all-knowing

Mr Jones (Mr Jones), Sunday, 7 May 2006 02:17 (nineteen years ago)

Michelle Monaghan is teeny tiny. When we interviewed her for kiss kiss bang bang she was really digging my Loretta Lynn t-shirt and said so, which is nice because most ppl just ignore the s0und guy like chicken little.

Jimmy Mod is a super idol of The MARS SPIRIT (The Famous Jimmy Mod), Sunday, 7 May 2006 02:34 (nineteen years ago)

All he could do was a vague sort of hip hop dance, and (maybe cos we couldn't see his eyes) he didn't seem too odd.

What he should have done is: nothing. Just stand there. He's far too in control to dance or act wacky. This is why it seems so off: dancing is fun, Tom Cruise hates teh fun.

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Sunday, 7 May 2006 07:33 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, if he'd had any kind of sense of humor he'd at least have remembered that he has a FAMOUS COMEDY DANCE ROUTINE IN THE MOVIE THAT MADE HIM A STAR and referred to that.

Austin Still (Austin, Still), Sunday, 7 May 2006 12:00 (nineteen years ago)

this is excellent

ath (ath), Sunday, 7 May 2006 13:32 (nineteen years ago)

he is bonkers

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 7 May 2006 13:39 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, he is, but your 15 minutes of fun are up. Soon you'll be telling us that Nicole Richie's a bit skinny. Like Milo says, Scientology jokes and gossip are rapidly becoming more of a dud than Cruise himself.

paulhw (paulhw), Monday, 8 May 2006 01:23 (nineteen years ago)

No way! Cruise-fun 4ever!
