I heard a rumor that Dr. Brown's was discontinuing Cel-Ray.

Confirm, deny, feelings.

lf (lfam), Sunday, 7 May 2006 21:37 (nineteen years ago)

well, i really like it anyways

lf (lfam), Sunday, 7 May 2006 22:51 (nineteen years ago)

That would be a great shame. I've been trolling Jewish delis recently, and it's Black Cherry as far as the eye can see.

JEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWSSSSS

It's at Pastrami Box last time I was there. Granted, that was a month ago or so.

Yeah, I got a can from a Morton-Williams a week or so ago. I googled a little and only found that Diet Cel-Ray had been discontinued, which is no great shame.

C0L1N B... (C0L1N B...), Sunday, 7 May 2006 23:37 (nineteen years ago)

that's all i could find on the net, too, but the bar in my town told me it had been discontinued. the people who run the bar are major shitheads, though, so who knows. the grocery still has it.

lf (lfam), Tuesday, 9 May 2006 04:27 (nineteen years ago)

OK, this would be really, really bad news.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 9 May 2006 04:35 (nineteen years ago)

one month passes...
CEL-RAY IS BACK! or at least the 'grocery' place where i am (that lf mentions) has started stocking it again. first thing i did when i noticed was bike home, get my checkbook, bike back and buy a 6-pack. for $9.

trees (treesessplode), Thursday, 6 July 2006 16:01 (nineteen years ago)

are they still making diet cel-ray?

jacques lu c on t (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 6 July 2006 17:01 (nineteen years ago)

I haven't seen it anywhere since I heard Dr. Brown's was no longer producing it.

C0L1N B... (C0L1N B...), Thursday, 6 July 2006 17:12 (nineteen years ago)

does anybody have official word from dr. brown's?

lf (lfam), Thursday, 6 July 2006 17:58 (nineteen years ago)

Can we get Cel-Ray to be some kind of National Historic Beverage? I think it would be a good use of federal funds.

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 6 July 2006 23:06 (nineteen years ago)

i will have to call dr. brown's tomorrow. keep checking back here.

lf (lfam), Thursday, 6 July 2006 23:37 (nineteen years ago)

If Cel-Ray went extinct we could all become such amazing bores, reminiscing over the, uh, ONE TIME we drank it.

Speak for yourself.

C0L1N B... (C0L1N B...), Friday, 7 July 2006 01:12 (nineteen years ago)

Oh I see. You had it TWICE.

Beth Parker (Beth Parker), Friday, 7 July 2006 01:14 (nineteen years ago)

i like cel-ray, but nobody i have ever met likes it.

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Friday, 7 July 2006 01:21 (nineteen years ago)

i love the cel-ray but i could only occasionally find it in grocery stores. i'll have to start looking again now that i'm in a city more likely to have it.

tehresa, who will here remain anonymous (tehresa), Friday, 7 July 2006 01:23 (nineteen years ago)

Cel-Ray is naturally invigorating.

John W. Smoke, Jr. (Uri Frendimein), Friday, 7 July 2006 01:28 (nineteen years ago)

ok i just googled this and i don't understand how it isn't gross. do they make cabbage soda too or something? what will they think of next!

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Friday, 7 July 2006 02:45 (nineteen years ago)

It manages to simulataneously taste a lot like celery and nothing at all like celery. Like, that celery 'essence' is totally there (especially in the smell), but it's sweet in a really pleasant and mild way that has nothing to do with the vegetable.

C0L1N B... (C0L1N B...), Friday, 7 July 2006 03:07 (nineteen years ago)

yeah it's great, i drink it all the time when i can find and afford it

lf (lfam), Friday, 7 July 2006 03:10 (nineteen years ago)

i will drink it til death. it is almost as good as materva (jesus i need to order some of that shit lf).

I AM DRINKING ONE RIGHT NOW!

trees (treesessplode), Friday, 7 July 2006 05:05 (nineteen years ago)

I have had it several times. It actually doesn't taste all that far off from ginger ale, except that it's celery instead of ginger.

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 7 July 2006 05:44 (nineteen years ago)

i sometimes feel it has a green apple-y taste. in the artificial green apple flavoring sense, not apple juice sense.

tehresa, who will here remain anonymous (tehresa), Friday, 7 July 2006 14:47 (nineteen years ago)

i have never even heard of this beverage. where do you find it?

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 7 July 2006 15:47 (nineteen years ago)

new york city, jewish delis, boutique groceries, internet beverage suppliers

lf (lfam), Friday, 7 July 2006 18:19 (nineteen years ago)

I've found that most large-ish grocery that don't regularly stock Dr. Brown's, do stock it around Passover.

C0L1N B... (C0L1N B...), Friday, 7 July 2006 18:23 (nineteen years ago)

three weeks pass...
i had a cel-ray today at a bagel place! so refreshing!

I had one last weekend from Junior's in Grand Central. $1.95! Worth it, though. It tastes like cross between lemon-lime soda, ginger ale and nail polish. Good, though.

Butt Dickus (Dick Butkus), Saturday, 29 July 2006 03:10 (nineteen years ago)

i could stand it a little less sweet, but i have about one per year, so i'm not really complaining.

tehresa needs more out of this relationship than she's willing to put in (tehres, Saturday, 29 July 2006 03:12 (nineteen years ago)

I was bummed to find the celery factor in the ingredients listed as "celery seed." All this time, I thought I had been drinking the carbonated juice of celery stalks plus a little flavoring. Celery SEED? Pshhh! That's not good for you, is it?

Butt Dickus (Dick Butkus), Saturday, 29 July 2006 03:14 (nineteen years ago)

celery is one of the least nutritious vegetables!

gothic Buddhist meets Old Hollywood (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 29 July 2006 03:16 (nineteen years ago)

however

gothic Buddhist meets Old Hollywood (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 29 July 2006 03:18 (nineteen years ago)

celery seed extract! not celery seed!

a name means a lot just by itself (lfam), Saturday, 29 July 2006 03:45 (nineteen years ago)

and i'm sure it's great for you, otherwise it wouldn't be so expensive amirite

a name means a lot just by itself (lfam), Saturday, 29 July 2006 03:45 (nineteen years ago)

I would certainly charge for the time and effort involved in extracting corn from my shit, but that doesn't mean it's good for you.

Butt Dickus (Dick Butkus), Saturday, 29 July 2006 04:19 (nineteen years ago)

dude, get one sarcasm

tehresa needs more out of this relationship than she's willing to put in (tehres, Saturday, 29 July 2006 04:31 (nineteen years ago)

You also. I wouldn't charge extra for that.

Butt Dickus (Dick Butkus), Saturday, 29 July 2006 04:34 (nineteen years ago)

Haha, I totally pwned you! look at your pretending I didn't! Haha!

Butt Dickus (Dick Butkus), Saturday, 29 July 2006 05:32 (nineteen years ago)

sorry i was away from the internet for a whole 2 hours!

tehresa needs more out of this relationship than she's willing to put in (tehres, Saturday, 29 July 2006 07:19 (nineteen years ago)

So now you are ready to admit I pwned your ass, yes?
