Well, never heard of this guy!

I read THE FUCK-UP a while back - I remember there being one of those damn "A Catcher In The Rye For The _____ Generation" quotes on the back, so I was expecting it to be the kind of book the guys in Crystal Method would enjoy, but it turned out it wasn't half bad! Nothing too mind blowing, the prot. is s'posed to be one of those wily indestructible NYC street-urchin wits but he's just above average (like The Strokes!), the hijinks are pretty debauched and fun. Give it a shot. Don't nkow anything about Arthur but the book has a pic of him in the back and I was surprised to find he was arab/east indian. Similar experience: I thought Holden Caulfield was black until near the middle of CITR because I didn't think any white people talked that cool.

Armenian, I'm guessing, with a last name like that.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

OK cool. Thx!

five months pass...
The Fuck Up was a good, fast read, so I picked up his new one (Chinese Takeout) today.

I wonder if there's an alternative universe where Nersesian is the Chuck Palahniuk of his world.

yea, i liked dogrun...where is he from?

jordanmbar, Saturday, 17 January 2004 23:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Chinese Takeout's idea of place was NYC street names and locations, and all of his other novels are set there.

Chinese Takeout was OK, the ending wasn't anything to write home about.
