That is to say: goddamn unreliable (but v. talented) drummer I did find in London won't even meet up for a pint to discuss 'the band', even though we've had but ONE rehearsal.

Getting drummers anywhere is really hard, unless you're like in some small town and you're playing the dominant musical style in said town. Most drummers I know here are in like 3 or 4 bands, which sucks because then you have to work around their schedule. Just keep looking, once you find one you click with and who's willing to really commit to the band it makes things so much better.

Yeah, I know. I feel like it's doubly difficult (strangely) in a big city, mostly because there's nowhere for drummers to keep a kit or practice without violating their lease (neighbors, etc.).

No drummer though, means guy-with-a-guitar on stage, which sucks. My last show featured stolen drum loops played through the pa from my ipod. Not horrible, but not a band either.
