I'm not so much talking of boycotting the fruit of countries that practice bad stuff, but more the boycotting of all fruit everywhere. Will you join me in my fruitwa?

Back in the day we used to scorn other children with CAPE oranges in their lunchbox, now JAFFA is the target but not much scorning goes on, even if I don't buy it.

Fruit is dangerous. There are a group of pomegranates that hang around on my street corner with mean faces. I once saw one wearing a hoodie.

I'm no friend of fruit. Seriously.

I hear spiders lay their eggs in the end of bananas. Don't eat bananas. Spiders will devour your insides.

Also, whenever they go out of sight, all your friends talk about you. Before they do that, they turn into melons.

This deserves to be a thread.

I predict people will eat grapes. But slowly, and without enthusiasm.

made me think of

Which fruits and vegetables contain the most pesticide residues?
There are certain foods that you should try to buy organic as much as possible. These foods are those fruits and vegetables whose conventionally grown ‘alternatives’ have been found to contain high levels of pesticide residues.

In the mid-1990s, the Environmental Working Group developed the "Dirty Dozen", a list of high-risk, pesticide containing foods. In October 2003, they updated this list. We suggest that if you must prioritize your purchasing of organic produce, you focus on avoiding those that are included in the "Dirty Dozen". To learn more about why organic foods are important to your health and the health of the environment, you can refer to our in-depth article on Organics.

The Dirty Dozen
Apples
Bell Peppers
Celery
Cherries
Grapes (imported)
Nectarines
Peaches
Pears
Potatoes
Red Raspberries
Spinach
Strawberries

Potatoes?? In fact I would like to see an explanation for quite a few of these, tho I can see how spinach would be a prime target for peesticides.

What is wrong with you all? Fruit rules. You're an adult now, you don't have to eat rubbish fruit that your mother made you eat. You can buy strawberries whenever you want. You can make a fruit salad with only nice fruit in it. Raspberries, mangoes, pineapple, yummy yum! No more bulking it up with cheap apples, wooden pears and black bananas.

"Have you ever taken a serious political stand on anything?"
"Yeah. Sure. For twenty-four hours once I refused to eat grapes."
