Everywhere. In and around the seats and floor, yes, but also crawling around all over the outside of it -- the trunk, everything! HAYULP!

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:18 (nineteen years ago)

that kind of ant?

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:19 (nineteen years ago)

I wish!

There are seriously droves of them. It's killing me.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:21 (nineteen years ago)

ugh, I had this once. I think maybe the winter killed them? I forget. Maybe I moved and they died away from their queen. I still have the car though and I don't think any ants are still in it.

teeny (teeny), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:24 (nineteen years ago)

did you leave food or shit in there?

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:25 (nineteen years ago)

I'm trying to figure out why an ant colony would settle in a car.

Shakey Mo Collier (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:26 (nineteen years ago)

i'm trying to figure out why hstencil would think somebody would shit in their own car

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:27 (nineteen years ago)

I mean, where's the queen, under the passenger seat?

Shakey Mo Collier (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:27 (nineteen years ago)

food no, shit no.

there was like a bag that food had been in (threw it out by now, obv), but they aren't even flocking onto it. they are just everywhere, especially under the hood!

xxxpost

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:27 (nineteen years ago)

food or shit will do it!

sometimes tho it may just be parked near a hill without ya knowing it! happened to my stepbro's lime green datsun back in the day.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:28 (nineteen years ago)

Pour honey on the ground nearby and come back an hour later?

beanz (beanz), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:29 (nineteen years ago)

then she'll have bears in her car

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:31 (nineteen years ago)

Paddington!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:33 (nineteen years ago)

I recommend setting the car on fire. that'll learn em!

Shakey Mo Collier (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:33 (nineteen years ago)

Ants are fucking weird, I've been getting random invasions in my house, oddly, they seem more interested in water sources than, like, crusty old pizza bones on the counter.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:38 (nineteen years ago)

I think maybe it happened to me because soda got spilled on my floorboards. I think I remember a squashed ketchup packet too. Also it was parked under a bunch of trees and I'm sure leaves were decaying in odd parts of the grill. Poor little beater.

teeny (teeny), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:39 (nineteen years ago)

DECAYING LEAVES IN THE GRILL

YES

YESSSSSS

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:42 (nineteen years ago)

is it bad that this sounds like the most logical suggestion to me?

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:44 (nineteen years ago)

at least you can literally say you have ants all up in your grill.

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:47 (nineteen years ago)

my mood has improved, thank you s1ocki

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:56 (nineteen years ago)

Do it! If you get bears, tempt them away with apples.

beanz (beanz), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 16:03 (nineteen years ago)

picnic baskets

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 16:10 (nineteen years ago)

According to robin's 2nd link there; what gets rid of ants: anything, if it's in a spray bottle.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 16:12 (nineteen years ago)

Some sort of small rodent once decided to store acorns in my airflow meter. Took me awhile to find the source of constant rattling. At least one didn't pop out of the vents while I was driving.

zaxxon25 (zaxxon25), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 16:15 (nineteen years ago)

with spray bottle

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 16:15 (nineteen years ago)

Vinegar water in spray bottle? You might not LOVE the smell of vinegar (I kind of do) but at least it's not like anything gross or rotting and it's not BUGS.

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 16:19 (nineteen years ago)

You need a caardvark.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 16:43 (nineteen years ago)

two months pass...
Were they giant ones like this? If so, you may want to give these 2 nice people a call to come take a look at them:

ANTS IN A CAR

Scourage (Haberdager), Friday, 18 August 2006 23:29 (nineteen years ago)

they are still there, but there are much less of them. I got Raid. In a spray bottle.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Friday, 18 August 2006 23:34 (nineteen years ago)

ghostface to thread!

tremendoid (tremendoid), Friday, 18 August 2006 23:46 (nineteen years ago)

Murderer. Then again, I would have done the same.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 18 August 2006 23:57 (nineteen years ago)

You could also try Terro traps. Then you just have to set it in the car and leave it.

Stupid ants.

Sara R-C (Sara R-C), Saturday, 19 August 2006 00:00 (nineteen years ago)

you could fumigate the car overnight

hippo eats dwarlf (lfam), Saturday, 19 August 2006 00:16 (nineteen years ago)

Sir Dr. Rev. PappaWheelie Jr. II of The Third Kind (PappaWheelie 2), Saturday, 19 August 2006 03:31 (nineteen years ago)

at least you don't have bees in your car... or yeah, plane:

Better than maggots. Mechanics once refused to work on my husband's car because of maggots. Many spilled cups of milky carry-out coffee had nourished them.

Beth Parker (Beth Parker), Sunday, 20 August 2006 00:07 (nineteen years ago)

Maggots be doin' dat java jive. Most mechanics I know work under the hood or on the brakes or something. Must've been one heck of a spill.

jim wentworth (wench), Sunday, 20 August 2006 01:12 (nineteen years ago)

It was a heater problem of some sort. They had to get at it from the inside of the cockpit.

Beth Parker (Beth Parker), Sunday, 20 August 2006 13:45 (nineteen years ago)

We have the follow up for "Snakes in a plane" now.
