Not quite parrots and not quite parakeets, though actually they're kinda both. And ILXor Vic now has one named Zoe, as I discovered the other day:

Friend of mine had one as well some years back, a bigger variety. Friendly character though I rapidly learned of the tendency of such birds to always find the highest place around to sit on, as discovered when it tried to climb up my hair from my shoulder.

It's a Hollywood bird, I should hope it knows how to pose.

O Shameless Mr Raggett. What an evil ploy to make me return to posting on this damned website, posting pictures of my adopted progeny unauthorized like that. It's working, too. But only because I was back to research that naughty Gawker gossip business on ILM - and don't worry enemies-lists, I'm just peeking my head in here. Not really breaking my almost-a-year/going-on-eternity hiatus. =)
[Oy. I suppose remaining FAP-friendly will always keep me around the greater orbit of ilxland. At least you people have been sanctioned by "Entertainment Weekly," now. Know how much better that makes you seem?]
I'd say these things are more like male cockateils than parakeets; much closer in size and personality, with a similar bout of facial rouge, but sans the cock's elevated hairdo. Maybe a bit less fearful as well, and more outgoing. Your pic makes Baby Zoe appear so prim and proper, but incidentally I've been having some issues with her eating small holes in my shirts when she sits on me! There beaks are really that strong, I'm learning....i've now taken to wearing a small towel on my shoulder to prevent this.
Zoe is as mischeivious as the sun conure is described on that wikipedia page, and doesn't fail to give me a verbal thrashing every time I leave the room, and step out of sight. Like you discovered on Monday, she can be quite loud, and likes to join in on conversations unasked (including ones on my cell).
I like this webpage: http://www.sunconure.com/advice.html The advice is true so far.
What do you guys do for fun?
Novie: I unusually start my day with a tummy and beak rub and foot massage followed by some play time. After my nap, I throw around some toys and look for my human to come and play with me. Then its cookie and nap time. I spend the afternoon splashing in the water bowl and preening. Early evening I'm usually taking inventory of my toys and looking to see if my human remembers my popcorn snack before bedtime.
Calle: Did you say its cookie time???
