I am a reject from popular culture! I blame the internet! Fie!

Mr Jones (Mr Jones), Friday, 2 June 2006 16:54 (nineteen years ago)

"Pon De Replay" was the first ringtone I ever downloaded.

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 2 June 2006 17:08 (nineteen years ago)

"shut up and drive" is great!!

Tracer Hand, Sunday, 2 September 2007 17:28 (seventeen years ago)

it makes me think of imani

Tracer Hand, Sunday, 2 September 2007 17:29 (seventeen years ago)

with way better beats

Tracer Hand, Sunday, 2 September 2007 17:29 (seventeen years ago)

I think that, when we all look back on her career, we will all realize that "SOS" and "Pon De Replay" were her only good songs and I will say "Ha, I TOLD YOU SO!"

HI DERE, Sunday, 2 September 2007 17:30 (seventeen years ago)

I think Umbrella is her only good song.

humansuit, Sunday, 2 September 2007 17:36 (seventeen years ago)

"Rihanna only had one or two good songs but no consensus could be achieved as to which ones were the good ones."

HI DERE, Sunday, 2 September 2007 17:37 (seventeen years ago)

I think that's right. Does she actually write any of her songs?

humansuit, Sunday, 2 September 2007 17:39 (seventeen years ago)

So, you want to know who put the rang in her rang-a-lang-a-ding-dong?

Aimless, Sunday, 2 September 2007 18:02 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah I bet it's just which songwriter you like.

humansuit, Sunday, 2 September 2007 18:09 (seventeen years ago)

humansuit, the "actually" in your second post could go, actually

Tracer Hand, Sunday, 2 September 2007 18:10 (seventeen years ago)

Alex in Baltimore, Sunday, 2 September 2007 18:12 (seventeen years ago)

Alright...

humansuit, Sunday, 2 September 2007 18:13 (seventeen years ago)

you guys hate fun

humansuit, the song itself was written by Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken, and uses a sample from Blue Monday

Tracer Hand, Sunday, 2 September 2007 18:17 (seventeen years ago)

Ah, Shut Up and Drive. I like that one. Actually.

humansuit, Sunday, 2 September 2007 18:19 (seventeen years ago)

you guys hate fun

True that. And we grind the snorg girl's bones to make our bread.

Aimless, Sunday, 2 September 2007 18:21 (seventeen years ago)

mmmmmmmmm girlbread

HI DERE, Sunday, 2 September 2007 18:24 (seventeen years ago)

I think Good Girl Gone Bad is packed with potential singles -- great ones. "Umbrella" is about the sixth best thing on there.

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Sunday, 2 September 2007 21:14 (seventeen years ago)

I think Good Girl Gone Bad is packed with potential singles -- great ones. RITE (see: "Lemme Get That," "Question Existing," "Breakin' Dishes")

"Umbrella" is about the sixth best thing on there. RONG

'dont stop the music' is the jam

deej, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 08:31 (seventeen years ago)

Umbrella is great for background. Once you focus on the lyrics, it turns horribly meh. Especially when someone stands behind you in the queue at the supermarket and decides she's Rihanna.

I was inspired to check her older music, I'm late to hear these songs but Umbrella, Disturbia and Please Don't Stop The Music absolutely crush it.

lol @ me, what a difference improving your song selection can make

although in fairness "Don't Stop The Music" hadn't come out yet and that was the song that made me re-evaluate my anti-Rihanna stance
