Okay, it actually doesn't look very good. But Rainn Wilson is a reliably wierdo on "The Office" and in the preview when Uma Thurman throws a shark through Owen (or whichever) Wilson's bedroom window I laughed like a stoned howler monkey.

I actually think this looks promising. Rom-comic-book might be the next hot genre.

...reliably FUNNY wierdo...

Owen (or whichever) Wilson

So OTM.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 2 June 2006 17:28 (nineteen years ago)

Also, the last really funny movie Ivan Reitman made was Ghostbusters. That's a long time ago.

i liked "Dave"

I dunno. Dave was pretty cute. And even Twins had some laughs.

But really funny? Yeah, you're right.

Eddie Izzard as Prof. Bedlam could be fun.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 2 June 2006 17:37 (nineteen years ago)

LUKE WILSON.

HIS NAME IS LUKE WILSON.

GOD PEOPLE.

Allyzay Rofflesbot (allyzay), Friday, 2 June 2006 17:38 (nineteen years ago)

To clarify, I'm talking about two different Wilsons in the thread header. One wears glasses and was on Six Feet Under and now The Office and his name is Rainn. He is not related to the other Wilson, but the other Wilson is related to a third Wilson. Both were in "Bottle Rocket" and "Royal Tennenbaums" but only one has been in two Jackie Chan movies, but I think it's the one that hasn't that is in this movie. Although I have better luck distinguishing hermit crabs than those two guys.

My head hurts.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 2 June 2006 17:49 (nineteen years ago)

note that both were in the jackie chan/steve coogan movie

kingfish doesn't live here anymore (kingfish 2.0), Friday, 2 June 2006 17:51 (nineteen years ago)

I understand that. But Owen Wilson is a completely distinct entity from the Wilson you do mean, namely Luke Wilson.

XPOST AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS. FOR CRYING OUT LOUD PPL.

Allyzay Rofflesbot (allyzay), Friday, 2 June 2006 17:51 (nineteen years ago)

Rainn Wilson redeemed his six feet under stint by playing practically the same character in the Office but kicking it up about ten notches, and now, in retrospect, I think the six feet under character is hilarious

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 2 June 2006 17:51 (nineteen years ago)

Rainn Wilson is of the Bahai Faith.

Dudes where do I bought this coat????

(To actually address this thread in some fashion, the scene in the trailer with the shark made something in my brain actually break)

Allyzay Rofflesbot (allyzay), Friday, 2 June 2006 17:58 (nineteen years ago)

You buy that coat in 1939.

The guy who plays Luke's best friend is so punchable. Tim Robbins should hire him just to walk around with all day.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 9 June 2006 07:21 (nineteen years ago)

forget the coat, go for the knee socks

jinx hijinks (sanskrit), Friday, 9 June 2006 11:10 (nineteen years ago)

I have similar socks already, in fact I could mostly cobble together all of that outfit from my closet, except the coat ;_;

one month passes...
This movie was approximately 240% better than I was expecting.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Monday, 24 July 2006 03:39 (nineteen years ago)

mega non-boffo - OMG Luke Wilson in box office poison shockah!!!

timmy tannin (pompous), Monday, 24 July 2006 03:43 (nineteen years ago)

As to where the baseline was in the first place...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 24 July 2006 05:18 (nineteen years ago)

As to where the baseline was in the first place...

It was certainly more appealing than the alternates of Superman, X3, or Pirates in terms of fulfilling the requirements of a) easy theater hopping and b) providing another 90-120 minutes of air conditioning.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Monday, 24 July 2006 05:21 (nineteen years ago)

do not see 'superman', dude

gear (gear), Monday, 24 July 2006 05:26 (nineteen years ago)

Come now, Gear, you KNOW Kevin Spacey is your hero.

Oh jesus, just by typing that I got this image of him starring in M. Night's next film. Can you imagine the black hole of cinematic suck created?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 24 July 2006 05:30 (nineteen years ago)

Also, Eddie Izzard is apparently DRUNXORED in every scene.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Monday, 24 July 2006 05:38 (nineteen years ago)

Rainn is pronounced Ryan, by the way, not "rain" as I expected (or so says a friend of mine).

nickn (nickn), Monday, 24 July 2006 05:43 (nineteen years ago)

No, I think you were right - my little sister pronounces it "Rain," and she's faithfully recorded every talk show interview he's done in the last month (she's an obsessive US Office fan).

reddening (reddening), Monday, 24 July 2006 08:24 (nineteen years ago)

two years pass...

Uma Thurman sucks
