Hey, YOU'RE the one moving there, buddy.

So does it work then?

there was a thread about this on uknova, and I think the conclusion was that it worked fine. i've certainly listened to uk-only radio streams in the usa by connecting to my work server via vpn.

the evening standard is leading today with a warning that firms who let people watch the game on broadband but don't have tv licenses will be fined thousands...

toby (tsg20), Monday, 12 June 2006 10:57 (nineteen years ago)

but how does that work?

ken c (ken c), Monday, 12 June 2006 10:58 (nineteen years ago)

Ha ha, clever BBC ruse to make more money.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 12 June 2006 11:35 (nineteen years ago)

ken - do you mean "how do they catch you?"? if so, apparently by conducting unannounced inspections. all sounds pretty ridiculous to me.

toby (tsg20), Monday, 12 June 2006 11:45 (nineteen years ago)

i was more thinking in terms of 'how they can justify charging you' because tv licence is not for 'viewing' television services but for 'owning devices capable' right?

if they are to start charging people they will have to fine everybody who has a broadband connection but not TV licence, regardless of whether you have been to bbc.co.uk
