I saw chicago's ride, last year, while in a van with my parents who were visiting from the suburbs. I told them it goes on all the time- which is true, Chicago must have at least 3 naked rides a year. The best part was that a few blocks on we passed a lone straggler of the naked ride, slowly pedalling along by himself, in body paint and an sheepish posture.

Can I hurt myself by cycling in the nude?

Only if you don't wear any sunscreen or if you fall off the bike. We recommend that you wear sunscreen, footwear and a helmet. Ride carefully and you won't get hurt. Your bottom will probably not hurt any more than when you ride with your clothes on. If you get sore, you could get a padded bike seat or get in practice by cycling more often.

I still find this a little hard to believe. I bike all the time but even with clothes I don't necessarily find it 100% comfortable on the body parts that touch the seat.

it was awesome, so much fun! it's FUNNY seeing all these people with no clothes on! and mostly so pale cos of lilywhite britishers. if you're on the ride you mostly see just bums anyway, the people on the sidelines would see way more than anyone actually doing it... i went in ickle shorts and top but felt a bit silly among all the nekkid people. next year i may go for bodypaint and a couple of trees or something (um and pants, i really don't like the idea of riding a bike with no pants on), the bodypaint people looked fantastic. if you see pics of two blue/green/purple painted girls, one in a straw hat, one in a red bandanna and shades on an orange brompton, those are my housemates! *everyone* wanted to take their picture. and a couple painted head to toe in teal, i know them too. i never thought i'd say this but i was very happy eng-er-land won the foopball, all the people on the streets after it finished were friendly to us and cheered - some of them even got their kit off too, just standing there in the street - but i think it might've been quite hostile if they'd lost. i only heard ONE "get yer tits out for the lads" the whole ride, which was a nice surprise. the police were cool about the whole thing too, not arsed (HA HA HA) about the nakedness at all, helpful about stopping traffic. i dunno. i loved it. also we hung around by the arch on hyde pk corner (where it started and ended) for a few hours after it finished, and they let people keep wandering around with no clothes on. hurrah for naked people on bikes! now i wanna see pictures... there aren't many up yet. what is on the front of metro please?

I saw you (you plural, I have no idea whay you look like) on Hyde Park Corner on the way home to Oxford on the bus on Saturday afternoon. As we came up to the roundabout I saw a big collection of people and assumed it was something to do with the football and went back to my book.

I then overheard the the couple behind me say something along the lines of, "ooh look, what's going on here?", "dunno, are they watching the football", "no, they've all got bikes. Look at all the bikes! I don't think I've ever seen so many bikes in London!", "hang on... isn't that guy naked?", "holy shit So he is.... and him... and her! They're all naked! AWESOME!"

There were two (three?) girls in body paint stood on the wall at the top of the corner, leaning on/hanging off a lamp post as we went around. Cars and vans were blowing their horns and lots of people on the corner we taking photos. I'm pretty sure they were dark colours like blue or green. These must have been your housemates, emsk.

I think it's pretty cool, nudism combined with environmentalism is definitely up my alley. We do have Critical Mass type of bike demos in Helsinki, but no nude ones. Maybe I should try to arrange one.
