s1ocki (slutsky), Sunday, 11 June 2006 03:43 (nineteen years ago)

I have been sick more times this year than in the 10 years before this one. Are you there, God? it's me, Margaret. Deannie. Blubber. Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. Wifey, for cristsake. Hopefully all these Judy Blume titles will scare our rotten colds away.

Abbott (Abbott), Sunday, 11 June 2006 03:53 (nineteen years ago)

It's impossible to have a cold twice in one month, you must have the avian flu pandemic.

n/a (Nick A.), Sunday, 11 June 2006 03:56 (nineteen years ago)

S1ocki is the vector! QUARANTINE HIM. And feed him poutine for strength.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 11 June 2006 04:01 (nineteen years ago)

s1ocki (slutsky), Sunday, 11 June 2006 15:31 (nineteen years ago)

That was psychosomatic snot yesterday.

seven months pass...
I feel like shit.

g00blar (gooblar), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 09:25 (nineteen years ago)

In order for us to empathise, we'll need more details than that, I'm afraid. What kind of shit?

StanM (StanM), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 09:28 (nineteen years ago)

Throat raw, nose blocked, body achy, head heavy.

And twenty-four hours ago I felt fine!

g00blar (gooblar), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 09:30 (nineteen years ago)

Hold on a sec, that's 'head light'. Sorry.

g00blar (gooblar), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 09:31 (nineteen years ago)

Does anyone know if you can by Mucinex in the uk without a prescription?

g00blar (gooblar), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 09:41 (nineteen years ago)

By some kind of miracle, I've not had a cold since last spring. I've got a horrible feeling my body's saving up all the germs and I'll be blasted with something pretty full-on before the winter's out.

*Madchen passes gooblar a mug of hot rum and lemon*

Mädchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 10:54 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, thanks for that. I've taken my left-over drugs from my last cold, and I'm waiting for them to kick in. Headache now.

I hope you didn't just jinx yourself! (I know better than to ever brag about going long without a cold).

g00blar (gooblar), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 10:58 (nineteen years ago)

How long have you been in the UK? I was sick for like, the first 6 months to a year that I moved back here. It's worse if you keep going back and forth to the States, as well, coz just as your body starts getting used to one pool of germs, you go back to that other pool of germs and start all over again.

Air travel, I swear to god it causes 50% of illness.

Eat lots of garlic. And take echinacea. Until then, honey, brandy and Lemsip.

The Long Grey And Overcast Tea Time Of The Soul (kate), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 11:04 (nineteen years ago)

garlic-echinacea-lemon-chillies-honey-cloves and most important GINGER, all mashed up in hot water. with brandy/whisky/rum if it's after midday.

emsk ( emsk), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 11:08 (nineteen years ago)

My wife keeps getting bronchitis, she's had it 3 times in 4 months. Our germs pwn Americans! I've been nagging her to get some echinacea or zinc or fish oil or whatever to boost her immune system, I think she finally ordered some with our Tescos order this week. She got some stronger antibiotics yesterday so hopefully she'll get better soon as she's had a lot of time off work recently and we can't afford for her to lose her job.

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 11:09 (nineteen years ago)

I think I'm gonna have a great big soup later, with loads of ginger and chili and garlic. But I can't do the brandy/whisky thing, as I have to sum up Phi1ip R0th's career in 250 words for a book project DUE TODAY.

I'm such a fucking idiot.

g00blar (gooblar), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 12:22 (nineteen years ago)

Get I Love Books to help you - if they can sum up books in 25 words, surely they can do that ten times over to get you a report.

The Long Grey And Overcast Tea Time Of The Soul (kate), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 12:23 (nineteen years ago)

In fact, that's why I have the cold. I've been in the uk for 2 weeks now, so I doubt it's the plane. It's a vengeful Jewish God's punishment for leaving this until the last minute.

g00blar (gooblar), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 12:25 (nineteen years ago)

I used to get tonsilitis with depressing regularity.

And the cold. When I was young I'd get the cold on average 10 times a year. I was brought up in a smoky environment so maybe that had something to do with it.

Now I get the cold about three times a year, one always strikes a few days after returning from holiday.

Rumpsy Pumpsy (Rumpie), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 12:28 (nineteen years ago)

Is it possible to have two colds at the same time? I think I have two colds :/

I pick up everything going since I stopped smoking.

onimo (onimo), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 15:18 (nineteen years ago)

A cold within a cold. I have a cold right now, it's shit. I've been having fevered half-real dreams and keeping Mr awake with my coughing which he says sounds 'put on'. Grrrrr

Rumpsy Pumpsy (Rumpie), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 15:20 (nineteen years ago)

I totally had two colds. I had this ongoing sinus infection and I caught a 24-hour bug that was going around on top of it.

Fleischhutliebe! like a warm, furry meatloaf (Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 15:21 (nineteen years ago)

two colds?!? someone explain this to me. :-(

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 15:23 (nineteen years ago)

if you have to ask, you'll never know

The Redd And The Blecch (Ken L), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 15:28 (nineteen years ago)

i think the technical term is coinfection or superinfection

The Redd And The Blecch (Ken L), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 15:32 (nineteen years ago)

dudes, this thread title applies to me this week too :(

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 15:48 (nineteen years ago)

Throat raw, nose blocked, body achy, head heavy.

And twenty-four hours ago I felt fine!

This is me, too.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 18 January 2007 05:07 (nineteen years ago)

It appears I was right to be worried upthread. My wife got a letter terminating her employment in the post today... too many uncertified sick days, 10.5 days in the last 3 months it says, but she has a doctor's note for this time which is about 5 days, and she had a note last time which was 3 days. But she was on probation so I dan't think she can do anything about it like sue for unfair dismissal. Fuck.

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Thursday, 18 January 2007 21:59 (nineteen years ago)

Around Christmas I got strep + inner ear infection, I spent forever on antibiotics, and on the last day of my antibiotic cycle I got a fucking gnarly headcold! Fuck that. I sneezed and coughed at the same time yesterday and this like 4 oz glob of green sludge came flying out of my face, and have felt AMAZING ever since. Please please PLEASE don't let me get sick again!
