Anyone been to Singapore? (A Raconteurs question)

On honeymoon in Singapore (third of three places), I was astounded by an advert on the 'metro' full billboard, promoting the benefits of getting married, getting a house, having kids, and all that. All in English, in the form of a normal ad for insurance or something.

Anyroad up, the point being that a lot of the lyrics to "Steady as she goes" the Raconteurs reminded me of that. Even to the point of thinking "Hang on, wasn't that the tagline on the advert?"

Anyone seen this? or should I ask on ILE?

I'm from Singapore. I tend to screen out ads so haven't seen the one you're talking about but I'm told it's for Aviva - an English insurance company and certainly not compelled to promote the Singapore government's favoured family values if it doesn't want to.

Surely references to marriage and kids simply makes sense in the context of an insurance ad, given that those are large life-changing events that would normally get most people thinking about buying insurance?

I'm almost certain the one I saw had no 'sponsor' or product. Regards anyway.
