Massive Brainstorming Question (Re: Boston)

Hello all,

Well, I can't believe I'm asking this here, but figure it can't hurt.

It's my parents' 40th anniversary this year and my sibs and I have decided to throw them a celebration in Boston (best place in terms of geographical distance). We are planning to do this on the weekend of Saturday July 22nd.

I am looking for any ideas from the Boston experts on any good activities/where to take them/if there's anything special happening in the city on that weekend (or just in general to do)? Unfortunately the Red Sox (my Dad's a huge fan) are out of town that night.

No idea is too small. Serious replies, please. :) Thanks!

swan boats in the public garden, picnic on the common, and for god's sake go to the isabella stewart gardner museum, the courtyard there is the most beautiful place in the city.

Dont be lured into th eMFA - there is a danger of becoming stranded in the funiture section for days and dying. It is labyrinthine

go to the coolidge corner theatre - they show good movies

See what the concert is at the Hatch Shell. You can listen to music, walk the river, and check out the skyline at sunset. Then head into town just about anywhere for dinner.

Concerts every weekend.
