So this was a short-lived thread. I never went to an Alexander's session but I'm still kind of intrigued by it.
I've noticed a lot of knots developing on one side of my back lately and have noticed that I have a tendency to slump ever so slightly to the right-hand side when I sit. I thought I'd try and experiment by swapping my mouse to the left-hand. After less than an hour I can feel an enormous strain in my shoulders, arm and fingers - which is kind of expected but nevertheless incredible. I tried using my phone headset in the opposite ear and it is literally unworkable, so I swapped it back because I cannot concentrate on anything with it that way round. What's most concerning is that in my left ear I can make out a noticeable hiss coming from the headset whereas in my right I don't hear anything at all.
One of the principles behind Alexanders is that we become so accustomed to performing actions in the same way, that we unconsciously develop "shortcuts" and lazy habits which lead to an imbalance in the body's muscular system.
It has further implications - brushing your teeth with the opposite hand means you can reach places you normally wouldn't, thus improving your overall oral hygiene etc...
