Do you have a favourite colour?

Continuing Stevie.T's 'lame magazine questionnaire' type questions theme. I don't think I really do. It all depends on the context (clothes, walls, anuses, whatever). When I was young I used to say 'orange', but I think that was in that same arbritary way I used to say I supported QPR.

It is my hypothesis that women are more likely than men to have a gut identification with a particular colour. But I am probably wrong.

Also, are any of you synesthetes?

Nick, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I like the color of bus.

Mike Hanle y, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The color of air. I see it all around me.

Seriously -- black, dark blue, dark red

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Scarlet and bluebell. Apparently, women are more likely to qualify a colour too, ie. they might say British racing green or moss green or grass green rather than just Green.

Madchen, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

A really lovely dark blue.

DG, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

purple

Ed, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Green's lovely in nature. But for some reason not so good in clothes, wallpaper etc.

scott, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

green. except for anuses.

duane, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Purple, I think. Also like blue, green, brown and black. Isn't there some sort of astrology-type thing based on colour preferences?

Paul Strange, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sky blue.

Patrick, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Today it's electric salmon.

Kim, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Black.

Ally, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

brown. i love brown clothes.

gareth, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Should I be disturbed that Ned's favorite colors make up a bloody, battered face? Misanthropy ahoy!

My faves: dark [x], as in dark green, dark purple, dark red, dark blue, dark orange, dark black, etc.

Dan Perry, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Only if it's yours. ;-)

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Purple. What kind of purple? Oh, you know.

the pinefox, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I like red, I like purple, I like black and Pikachu yellow.

james e l, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Lately it's been red. My sofa is salmon, and I have a lot of color in my apartment: yellow kitchen walls, red lino, royal blue living room chairs, pink bathroom. Lots of color makes me feel good.

Lesley Higgins, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I also like Matt Lauer peach and Cyndi Lauper blue. Also, dirty sidewalk grey and dead squirrel maroon.

Mike Hanle y, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It's been purple for years- a very bluey purple, almost cobalt blue. Actually my favourite colour is that very dark cobalt blue that is so very blue it is almost purple. Especially in glass. Cobalt blue stained glass has the power to reduce me to tears.

Old Pedant reached for CASSELL'S COMPACT to check the actual latin plur. of Anus, to discover IT ISN'T IN THERE. Yes, foax, within living memory they censored Latin dictionaries for schoolboys (also Latin poetry: the Catullus verse that I did for A- level had big gaps in the key places... eg where the pederasts having fish shoved up their bottoms!! I recall our teacher unchaining the ancient unexpurgated tome and making us free translate the Dirty Bitz, AND NONE OF ver KIDZ WUZ PREPARED TO SAY THE WORD 'COCK' OUT LOUD! Punk RoXoR!!)

mark s, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I used to say blue until I realized that I was just saying that because I didn't want to not have a favorite color.

Josh, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Main Entry: anus Pronunciation: 'A-n&s Function: noun Etymology: Latin, ring, anus; perhaps akin to Old Irish ánne ring Date: 15th century : the posterior opening of the alimentary canal

Mike Hanle y, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yeah, so it must "ani", boringly enuff (superboring cuz it means the kinds of ppl who say "Extracting the Urine" wd likely guess right). There's an unrelated fourth declension noun anus, anus [long u], wich means old woman. And Cassells had "annulus", which is the (more common) dimunitive, meaning "ring"...

What's weird is it DOES carry penis = a tail, and vagina = a scabbard... tho not of course the actual latin words for either...

mark s, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

black, wine red, sapphire blue.

Melissa W, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)
