Who do we want?

Who do we want to see live in Festival Extremaganzas this summer.

I would kill family members to see..........

Basement Jaxx -They were fantastic, and I mean the best gig EVER, when I saw them at Christmas. And I wasn't too drunk even, but let me tell you they were amazing. Like, with most bands they feel the need to slow things down a bit but Basement Jaxx just didn't bother. Unbelievable. Also Royksopp supported which got me into them.

Spiritualized I've never seen them live. I had shingles when they played here in September so I sold my ticket.

Leftfield/Chemical Brothers/Prodigy/Orbital Never seen any of these except a few Chems DJ sets which just aint the same I hear.

Stanton Warriors Have to see them again due to the possibility of them being as good as they were last time I saw them.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some bands, but anyway. Who do you all want to see this summer?

Or just in general, who have you missed?

Should have been an ILM thread perhaps but anyway I forgot to say Daft Punk. Do they ever tour?

man or astroman?

but only if they come equipped with supercomputers, matching biohazard suits, synchronised guitar movements and the lead singer (coco the electronic monkey wizard) running around the stage in a burning helmet. as they did last time.

how i heart man or astroman?

I'd pay to see your guarantee that I don't have to hear any of the godawful tosser bands mentioned in the question.

It'd be cool to see Orbital again, seeing as they're responsible for two of the best gigs of my life. I've seen the chemical brothers live at Reading and they were .... meh, they were much better djing in the tiny room at the lly Pally new years thing where Orbital played as well.

nickie, when did you see man or astroman? i saw them about 1995 and they were pretty much as you describe. but haven't they changed quite a bit since then? less surf more devo? i'm not entirely sure, just wondering how their live set had changed as well

gareth, Wednesday, 30 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

hmm. by the sounds of it, gareth, they're live set hasn't changed a bit. i saw them in November 2000 a good bit after the release of Eeviac. it all seemed so fresh and new to me back then, but as of now i know better...

they were still knocking out the surfin choons at the time, but i think that the last album put the nail in the coffin on that one. they're still the only band i'd consider travelling to see, though. no idea whether they even toured the last album or what the live show was like.

I think the Boredoms and Pink should tour together.

Thanks for that Pinefox!

Man or Astro-man? are great! I've seen them about 4 times (interviewed them once, but's that another story)...last time I saw them was at the Scala, when they had the Eeviac computers...And then at the Garage they had the tesla coil...and CoCo with the computer monitor on his head and on flames, and that theramin that deafens people. They are a three piece again at the mo. The most fun live band I've seen. Nickie, you have good taste!
